Well, I've been trying to practice at it quite a bit in my time off lately.
So the next result is:
Along with that, I became curious and tried to colour it in Photoshop:
As you can see, I'm no artist, but I am getting better at the sketching, if I do say so myself. We'll just ignore the colouring attempts.

Remove the second set of line around his pockets. It gives the feeling of motion, and there shouldn't be motion on that part of the body in public (as is presumable, do the fact he's wearing his clothes <_<). I suggest moving the pockets to the side, as well.

Howdy there,
I have to say that I liked his hair better in the first two you showed, but the feet are looking nice. Every thing seems to be in preportion. All you need to do now is work on your style and practice practice practice. Hell If I can get away with drawing stuff like this http://members.byond.com/?command=view_post&post=23736 Then you are golden man. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on it. P.S. Both our guys are named steve. ;p |
I agree w/ Sqeegy. Keep iconing, it's what your good at, and frankly your sketch sucks.

I sense another Mission Hill-style producer coming along! ~ _~
[EDIT:] Mission Hill kicked ass. |
Squeegy -> What the hell do you mean "stick to iconning" ?
I'm not a pixel artist at all, I've never done pixel art and I have no intentions of ever doing pixel art. I'm a programmer here... Bloodbath -> What do you expect? I only started drawing less than a week ago. |
That guy's either asian or high, right?
I prefer the high idea, cause he has that crazy hair. Anyway, nice coloring job. It comes together smoothly, even if it isn't the prettiest drawing in the world. No offense. =) |
If you're serious about learning to draw, Tibby, pick up an anatomy book and get to studying. Not memorizing names of muscles or anything, just... looking. Learning how the human body's put together and why the skin makes the shapes it does. Draw from life, too. The best way to get good at drawing people is to have a real life model (or a picture, if you don't have a human handy) and just draw them. Don't try to draw parts of them - don't look at the ear and say to yourself "Okay, now I'm going to draw the ear", just draw the lines and shapes you see. Flip your photo upside down and sketch it that way if you have to.
That and practice... a lot of practice. |
