Rush is a rock band hailing from Canada that, despite the fact that they may be one of the best bands ever to grace the ears of their listeners, seems to fall into a fair amount of obscurity. They have 23 certified gold albums and 14 platinum, and are fifth The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, KISS and Aerosmith for the most consecutive gold and platinum albums by a rock band. They are ranked 78th by the RIAA for record sales, and each of their members (Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart) are considered masters of their instruments, and are rarely, if ever, critisized.

To add to this, they have been touring regularly since 1974, and have 17 studio albums, with their 18th, Snakes & Arrows, coming out in sixteen days, on May 1st. Even after five years of doing almost nothing, they released a new album, which immediately reached high on the billboard charts.

Despite all of this, few people seem to know of them, and they haven't been inducted into the Rock 'N Roll hall of fame, even though non-rock groups, such as Michael Jackson and Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, are currently in.

I hope they get inducted soon, because they really, really deserve it.

By-the-way, I don't know why I wrote this post. I just felt like it.
My favourite songs of theirs are Subdivisions, Roll the Bones, Red Sector A, The Enemy Within, Show Don't Tell, and Neurotica. Most of their other songs I like a great deal.

I don't really like them because they're Canadian so much as I like them for their uniqueness. Lee has a singing voice like no one else's, and they know how to play their electric guitars in a way that's both exotic and domestic at the same time.
My two favorite songs by them are definitly "Freewill" and "Fly By Night", though all their songs are amazing. It's a shame they aren't in the R&R Hall Of Fame. =(
The RARHOF is basically a big marketing machine. They pick their nominees based on who'll get them the most press and the most money. It's even been alleged that, on top of cherry picking the nominees, they manipulate the votes to get the ideal results. So, you've pretty much articulated the reason Rush hasn't made it in.

But the museum is still nifty, if you ever get a chance to see it. :P

I don't think I'd kow a Rush song if I heard it, but I recall my older brother had one of their t-shirts when we were allegedly growing up.
