I was having the common issue of BYOND not opening. It would show up in task manager but nothing would open. I almost gave up on finding a solution after trying for hours and looking all over the internet. I finally found someone with a solution that worked for me in late 2024 on my WIN 11 system. I am reposting to hopefully help someone else.

I am copy/pasting from the user "Lummox JR"

This is most often caused by BYOND's user data directory (which defaults to Documents\BYOND) being mounted in OneDrive or on some kind of network share. If you remove it from OneDrive, the problem might go away.

Another option is to change your user directory via the registry editor.

1) First make sure the BYOND pager is closed by going to Task Manager and looking for byond.exe in the details tab. Close it if it's there.
2) Create a new directory on your system, like C:\BYOND.
3) Type "regedit" in the Windows start menu.
4) Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dantom\BYOND.
5) Edit the value called "userpath" and change it to the path for the new directory you created.

Their post was made almost 3 years from now and if anyone more recently is having issues, im hoping my up to date post will reach them. :)
