- Awesome graphics, but it's like they charged per pixel.
- The plain ridicoulous claims. 4D... my ass...
- The hardware bugs (I'd rather not have a new console short out the second I bring it out of the box, thank you)
- The fact that it's ridicoulously overpriced
- Ridicoulously overpriced
- Did I mention ridicoulously overpriced?
Sony killed it's brand. It dreamt too high and blew things up too big. They took the Playstation 2, gave it liposuction, tore out it's innards and replaced them with supposedly better but actually horribly flawed new organs/hardware, gave it a shiny new case, and then... told everyone it would have 4D imaging.
4D!
Thank you, but I already have 4D. I EAT in 4D.
I BREATHE in 4D.
The fourth dimension is time. In time, I breathe, in time, I eat.
I DON'T NEED A CONSOLE TO SHOW ME WHAT IT'S LIKE.
And given that all consoles are in time WITH me (otherwise they would be static and would probably never even appear) they're ALL technically 4D.
That's what irks me the most. It's like they just got some random gofer to make up catchphrases for their new technology.
Oh, and while Sony reclines in it's big, luxurious office chairs as PS3 sales creep along, the Wii has nearly doubled it's sales, and they still don't even think it's a threat.
I would love to have something like the PS3, with all the power, but I would much rather save that 600$ and spend it on... you know... games? Cheaper consoles that focus more on gameplay mechanics than just making everything look cool?
I would love to have something with the graphical power of the PS3. However, I would love to have my 600$ still more. I would love to spend that 600$ on the Wii more, since then I can buy the console, four remotes, and a plethora of games.
With the PS3, that's barely enough to buy the console.
Guess what I, as a low-budget gamer, would prefer? Just what I said there.
WII > PS3. If nothing more than versus price. Someone needs to go up to Sony and stamp that on their forehead until they get it. I CANNOT PAY 600$. I WILL NOT PAY 600$ FOR A VIDEO GAMING CONSOLE.
Okay, rant's over. Now discuss!

Eh at my Eb games. They got Ps3's for 399+you gotta bring in 10 games. (Ps2,Gamecube,Ps3,Xbox,Wii,360 games included).
It says certain games also, so I assume new ones since they would get more money. Im deciding if I should go for it. |
OK, you buy you damn Wii and I'll enjoy my PS3, what the fuck does it matter? I'm really tired of explaining this to people
YOU CAN STILL BUY YOUR CONSOLE OF CHOICE, NO MATTER WHAT SONY DOES. Now if Sony was holding a gun to your head, than yes, I would say you would have room to complain. You don't hear me going around and ranting about the many things I don't like about the Wii and 360, do you? |

Im deciding if I should go for it. If you're selling games, you're better off doing it on eBay or something. If you look at what the games are worth at resell value, you'll see EBGames is ripping you off and making a huge chunk of profit at the same time. Either way, you're better off keeping your games and saving the extra cash. That way you don't end up losing any money. |

Selling games to EB is rarely a good move, but if you insist on doing it make sure you're not better off selling them the stuff individually. If you've got a good console and ten good/rare/popular games you might get more by ignoring the deal, trading them for cash, then combining the cash with your own to buy the console. That said you're much better off selling any decent game via eBay. If you can't unload it there then resort to EB. YOU CAN STILL BUY YOUR CONSOLE OF CHOICE, NO MATTER WHAT SONY DOES. I dunno, they do have a way of cramming their products into the industry. The thing I find interesting about a lot of these posts is that I get the impression the posters are pissed off that the PS3 has jerked them around rather than the normal fanboy 'I hate it because it's not my brand' rants (although we still see a lot of those =P). |
If your not gonna buy it, dont buy it. Sony has boned itself yes we know, but it will bounce back eventually, though the wii will have gained a goliath of a lead by then. Regardless, we all know its overpriced, we all know it has hardware bugs, and we all know the rest of the story. Another post for the 10 millionth time bashing the ps3 does nothing.
Bottomline, if you want it, buy it. If you dont, then dont. Eitherway No one really cares. Not even sony. |
I don't think I'll be getting a PS3.
And not just because I'm a poor bastard. My friend recently bought a PS3 (recently means about a month ago). It played fine for awhile, but 2 days after he bought it, his PS3 would no longer read disks. He looked up the error online, and found that it was a pretty common problem, and it apparently originated from the disk reading device not being placed in safely enough. I guess it wobbled out of place easily. I guess there was a simple fix online, where you just open up your PS3 and place it back in, making sure it's in there nice and tight. I can't remember the problem he had after that, but it had something to do with the older PS3s being incapable of reading certain disks, so he ended up going back to EB and getting it replaced. It all seemed to work fine and dandy except for one thing. Upon inserting a new disk to generate monsters for Monster Rancher 4, it did absolutely nothing. I personally don't consider this too problematic, we already knew that it wasn't perfectly backwards compatable, but he wasn't too happy. Anyway, I've heard nothing but bad mouthing about the PS3, and I've even seen videos of the maker not addressing these problems the way he should be (not ignoring them). Heeheehee. Not even sony |
I'm going for the PS3 when I have the money.
Also, you can't claim an overpriced argument. Every console is over priced when it first launches. |
Alright, I was a little mean with that, and as BlackBird said, it is you blog, but I'm just really tired of fanboys from other consoles screaming "Sony killed themselves", when that clearly isn't true. Although the PS3 isn't selling as well as the Wii, it is selling. What does it matter who is on top? Buy the console you want, and be done with it.
As for the complaints about dead PS3s, it doesn't surprise me. For as much as I would want to bitch about something like that, out of the ~15 motherboards I have personally bought from trusted names, 3 of them have been DOA. Think about that. If 1/100th of the PS3s are malfunctioning(And I'm sure far less are), they are doing a great job. Not only does the PS3 have a motherboard in it, it also has about a million other parts that can break down. The 360 had a TON of problems with defective devices too. I haven't looked up any problems for the Wii, but something tells me a fair number of them have been DOA as well(Probably not as many, it is a far simpler console). But my point still stands, if you don't like the console, don't buy it. It is a simple concept. All the whining in the world wont change what the PS3 is. |
I just looked at a list of PS3 game release dates and I don't see anything I really want that won't also be on the 360. (I suppose Bethesda might have taken the time to fix some bugs before releasing the PS3 version of Oblivion, but I already bought a 360 for it and don't intend to be fooled again.)
I loved the PS1 and PS2 and really wanted to love the PS3, but I don't give a wet fart about Blu-Ray and I don't see any forthcoming PS3 killer apps worth spending the cost of a 360 PLUS an extra 2 C-notes. I guess if they ever release Afrika, and if it's really, really good, that might convince me. |
