This week got off to a rough start after a rougher weekend. Suffice it to say I have a family member in the hospital. It's nothing life-threatening right now, which is good, although the duration of stay is still in question. Anyway the weekend involved a couple of long nights out, so I started the week off very short on sleep after the previous week was already pretty rough in that department.
We're now in the long tail of the server migration, so a bunch of tasks needed attention in that venue—and still do to some extent. That ate up the majority of the week, including some night hours. Most of what's left is, I think, stuff I can handle. That said, we're so close to the month rollover that I don't feel comfortable yeeting the old machine yet, so that will stay up another month... at additional expense. But it's probably for the best.
The Git conversion is at a point where I'm able to use the repository for BYOND's software, although now the task of actually learning to work with that begins. I spent a bunch of time tweaking some local files, and I think pretty soon I can mess around with doing some commits. There's a learning curve here because I've barely used Git for anything, and unlike the tiny things I've used it for in the past this one has consequences attached if I screw something up.
I actually managed to get in some software work yesterday, though. I fixed a very very ancient bug in the compiler, and for 516 I'm working on a minor feature that's actually kind of important. I expect to have that ready well before the beta.
Thank you so much to all the BYOND Members and regular supporters who've made it possible to do this work. I'm grateful to all of you.
I did not buy donuts yesterday! I did however buy a bag of Take 5. It jumped out of nowhere at me. Donuts are not necessarily out of the question tonight. Also I found out the frozen berry blend with cranberries doesn't exist anywhere anymore, so I'm gonna have to cut a bitch. Anyway, here's to a better October.
