BYOND Build Number: 471.1076 / Public 4.0
Operating System: XP
Video/Graphics Card:
Game Hub/Link:
Internet Connection Type: Wireless, though always good connection
Firewalls/Routers: Off/Dunno it's public so I can't access it.

Problem Description: Whenever I log in I'm always logged in as 'offline'. I can't join any games really. This happened about two days ago and now I can't get my pager to show the friends or games tab. I've had no problems before two days ago.

I've already try renaming the .cfg and deleting the cache. Neither of those worked.

Steps to Reproduce Problem:
That would be a connection problem, your pager is not accessing the hub properly. And since you mentioned it's a public connection, there's probably nothing you can do to help it out.
Still give it a shot, to what you can do on your end: Try this

I tried all that. Though I've been using the same connection for a while I don't know why it would suddenly change.
Tried deleted the account from pager then re-logging in and it won't even allow me to do that anymore

Same actually, that's how my issue started if you read my topic, I ended up reinstalling and getting the error I have now which is Byond Hub: Connection Failed.

So now we know it's not our fault and that it's not our routers and fire walls. It's an issue with byond or the update they release.

Any fix?
In response to Malanth
No I'm not to sure it's a problem with byond, I'm almost positive it's more of a router/firewall issue. When Byond stopped working other programs(games) on my computer stopped working. Also my xbox is not working so I'm guessing they all are associated with the same issue, the router.
In response to Finfour
Well other people are having the same issue as us and it isn't their firewall or router.
You mention this being a 'public' internet connection. Did you check that the one providing this service actually allows BYOND (on-line games)? Several universities/schools block ports and applications once they find them to avoid their students abusing the internet connection.

While the conclusion that BYOND might have a problem could be valid, it seems a bit early. There are thousands of customers (4989 at the time I'm writing this) on BYOND, so the sheer fact that very few of them suffer problems simultaneously is to be expected (similar to how it's likely that a good deal of the BYOND users have the same birthday, just because of the vast amount). Additionally, as one of the users mentioned, all his on-line activities now suffer problems and as such it's rather more likely a local issue in that case.

It works again out of nowhere. Shrug. Thanks for the help regardless.

That's why the article on solutions to the issue mentions waiting a day or two. There are plenty of reasons why the connection could go through trouble, such as a bottleneck in the routing, which usually get resolved rather 'fast' (read, a day or week) by the responsible people.

It's back. Hnnng.

try

cmd ->
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew

Just in case :/

Out of curiosity, can you ping byond1.byond.com?
In response to Schnitzelnagler
I can ping byond fine.
In response to Malanth
What have you done between the time that it 'worked' and when it 'broke' again?
In response to Schnitzelnagler
My Byond's also been having similar issues. It shows me as offline most of the time, and on the off chance that it does randomly allow me "online" (Allowing me to access my games, etc), then it asks me to re-download them (not just a select few: ALL of them.), though I've checked my Cache and there's nothing missing.

It hasn't done this before, and since I'm one of the last 12 people on earth with dial-up, downloading it takes quite a while. On the nights that I've attempted re-downloading the games, it gets to a certain point, usually halfway, and says " connection timed out" or something similar, and forces me to either give up or try again.

I know it isn't exactly the same problem, but I feel they're related. Since a few others have shared a similar problem, I doubt it's fully coincidence.

Greetings Nickjackal.

You haven't provided enough information/ignored the forum template and as a result of this, we are unable to help you. In order to be of any real assistance, we need to know as much detailed information about your computer as possible.
Please consult All about the BYOND Help Forum if you are unsure on how to fill out any of the template fields.

Once you are sure you have enough information, please *START A NEW THREAD* with all the information you can. From there, we'll see if we'll be able to help you solve your problem.

As for how and if the problems are related, I can not judge. I'd somewhat doubt it though.

Yours sincerely,
Schnitzelnagler.
