One of these nights I'm hoping to get a good night's sleep again. This week has been the absolute pits when it comes to productivity on so many levels.

So the long project has been consuming a lot of time this week, but not in a good way because it's been so start-and-stop, and it's been driving me homicidal. I've had some successes and fails and didn't get to the point I was hoping to reach. But it looks like, fingers crossed, I'll be at that point next week, which means a lot more work then. It wasn't all as bad as it sounds, because some of the successes were actually pretty big milestones, but... yeah, I feel kinda stabby at the end of this week.

The software didn't go unnoticed, though, because I was able to get in some bug fixes for 515 and for the 516 alpha. Yesterday I put out a new 515 maintenance release, and a new alpha alongside it. I was really, really hoping to throw in a filter feature for 515 but it was so last-minute when I got to it that I decided it wasn't the time. As it happens, maybe multiple filter features could make the cut for next time.

Pretty soon (I hope), 516 can move from alpha into beta. I know I said 516's beta cycle would be a lot shorter than 515's was, and I mean that, but I really wasn't expecting the alpha to drag out this long. It isn't because of 516 being unready, just because I'm dealing with the other thing I've been beating my head against. Once that's out of the way, 516 can steam forward. And so can some other plans. I can't be rid of IE soon enough.

(They're technically legal in July now, but they shouldn't be, and when I become a supervillain I'm shutting that crap right down.) I need to start building up my tolerance for fried foods as well, for... reasons. Wish me luck.
