BYOND Build Number: 427.997
Operating System: Windows XP SP2
Video/Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce 7600GT; Direct X 9.0c
Game Hub/Link:
Internet Connection Type: Cable
Firewalls/Routers: Windows Firewall (allowing BYOND) and Router

Problem Description: I can't run any of the BYOND exes (byond, dreamseeker, dreamdaemon and dreammaker). I try to open them and nothing happens, the byond.exe shows up in the task manager but the program itself doesn't show up. I can open 3.5 so this is weird, I think it only happens with the BYOND 4.0 versions (already tried deleting the cache and renaming the cfg, nothing worked). Any solution?

Steps to Reproduce Problem: Recently reinstalled BYOND and tried to open it, nothing happened. Haven't installed anything else lately (I was away from home for about 2 months).
Anyone?
G'day John.

Are you installing BYOND as an administrator or just as a single user?

Occasionally when you install BYOND as a user and not an administrator, strange things can happen. Although, I've never heard of your current issue before, so I'm kind of at a loss for answers.

When you double-click or right-click and select "Open BYOND", does the pager window appear?

If not, it could also be some kind of weird annoying virus that takes focus away from your desktop, nothing is impossible. Have you updated your virus definitions and performed a full virus scan?

Thanks Much.

Try a system restore from where it did work. (I recommend having someone that has used this before do this or someone that can understand it well.)

I'm the only person that uses this computer and the guest account is deactivated, so that can't be it.

Whenever I try to open it the computer seems to be doing something but nothing shows up, except in the task manager where I can see the process running, not even error reports appear.

It might be a virus since I only use the Windows Firewall and an old version of Ad-Adware SE to protect the PC (I'm a careful guy, though), I'll try to do a better scan with some different programs and post the results later.

Thanks for the help.

I thought about that, but I haven't played BYOND games for some time now, much more than those 2 months I mentioned before, so I'll only do it as a last resort. Thanks for the help.
