It happened just this morning (morning where I live, which is currently China). I was observing one round of SS13 then suddenly got disconnected. I restarted BYOND and found it unable to connect any server or any game. On every game tab there is just this reloading icon forever.
I can open up a session by clicking "Replay", but the connection just times out after a while with the message "BYOND Central is not accessible" or sometimes "Connection is closed".
The funny thing is, the BYOND website still works in explorer for me, and I can still view all the active servers on https://www.byond.com/games/Exadv1/SpaceStation13. Of course starting my game from there would still just bring me to "BYOND Central is not accessible"/"Connection is closed". Also, I can totally log in my account in IE or in BYOND client. It's just I can't start a session.
The BYOND build I'm using is 515.1637. And yes, I have to use VPN (in fact that's the only way to access the game and servers, considering where I live). I have been actively participating in SS13 over the last few weeks and this is the first time this happened.
I've tried reinstalling BYOND, clearing caches of both BYOND and IE, rebooting my PC, changing web connections, changing VPN connections. None has worked.
It sounds like the Great Firewall has blocked your VPN from reaching the hub. This isn't something I can fix.
But the thing is it worked fine for a great while! Then I was just personally blocked all of a sudden???
Small but meaningless update: checked again with my phone's hot spot using paid traffic, no luck. Then with my roommate's PC and his connection, still no luck. Guess we are collectively f**ked here.
Solved my own problem after deleting the user directory. Guess clearing the cache alone wasn't enough. Please mark this as solved, thank you.
