Well, If your trying to find out what your IP is, Than there is many way of this. I'm going to clarify this just a little. Depending on your setup, you'll get different IPs for these methods. In computer networks there are lots of IP addresses that have relevance in their own way. The two most common you'll find out about is your Internal IP and your External IP. When you go to command prompt and check your IP address (You don't need the /all by the way. It doesn't provide you with anything more useful than what ipconfig will (at least for BYOND anyway)) using the ipconfig method, you'll be given your internal IP address. That is your computers 'name tag' if you will, on your computer network. When you go to a website like http://www.whatismyip.com, you'll be shown your external IP address. This is the IP address your Internet Service Provider will assign your network when you connect to the internet. All computers on your network will have the same external IP because no doubt they are all hooked up to the one modem/router. For example: If I go to command prompt and type ipconfig. It'll tell me my IP address is 192.168.1.3. This is my identification on the network. My router is: 192.168.1.1 and my Wireless Access Point is: 192.168.1.2. When I go to http://www.whatismyip.com, it tells me that my IP address is: 202.76.166.212. This is my external IP assigned to me by eFtel.net.au (my ISP). |
First of all, The best and most accurate way is to use Command Prompt. Simply go to Run>CMD. When it opens you should get a DoS Window. Type: "ipconfig /all" no quotes, There you go, IP adress.
However if this doesn't work for you there is a muc eaisier way, Simply by going to ip-adress.com, And it will tell you your IP right there in plain text.
