On my router I can port forward and all that junk. I need to know is, I have a linksys, It asks for an ending to the IP (E.G. 192.168.1.x) x standing for blank. What does that need to be?
It varies from computer to computer on the network. Ideally, it would be 1-3, but it can be any 1 and 2 digit number.

If your internet provider can give you a good router/modem combo, I suggest you go for it. Linksys causes too much problems to be trying to host with it.

The only problem I've ever had with my Linksys router is that it will occasionally go down for no reason. It's been happening less and less frequently as time goes by. All you need to do to host games is open some ports, then host on one of those opened ports. It should be fine.

Easy as pie. Go into Start -> Run and type in "cmd" without the quotes. Once Command Prompt appears, type in "ipconfig" without the quotes. It should display an IP address in the same format as your example. Only it'll have a last digit. That should be your final digit you need.
