I have a friend who sent me the following issue:

However, I have not been able to access Byond.com for several day snow. Usually its just a few hours and it doesn't matter all that much to me since I'ma btg player.

However, this is getting to be too much. I know other people are having issues. I know someone else who hasn't reached the site for four days now, not just me.

What is going on? Why are you guys s into the server.electively allowing and disallowing access to the website?

Please note: account doesn't matter as I can't even GET to byond.com to login or access byond central....though for some odd reason, my byond product still allows me to "log in" so to speak. Just doesnt' give a pager, friends list, games list, and when I type in IP addresses with ports, it tells me byond central is inaccessible for me to log

Anyone have any idea what could be causing the problem?
Hi, Blueseed15.

Regarding the website problems, BYOND is abandoning its terrible former host in favour of a newer, faster one. During the transition over the past couple of days there have been some rough edges. Things should be a bit more stable now.

BYOND never deliberately restricts access to the server unless someone does something bad enough to warrant a BYOND ban, and in such a case BYOND will definitely make sure the person knows that they have been banned. It really sounds to me like something else is going on for your friend's computer. Has your friend talked to his/her parents to see if maybe they restricted access to BYOND themselves?

Regarding the connection problems to the pager, I'll stick in the form reply, since we need to know all of this before we can help him/her out better:

* Have you tried the information from the main BYOND Help index? "When I start BYOND, it says: "BYOND Central not accessible". Or, I can't connect to any games."

* Do you have a hardware firewall? (If your computer connected to the internet by a cable modem or DSL modem which goes through a router, you probably do.)

* Do you have a software firewall? Norton Internet Security, ZoneAlarm, BlackICE Defender, etc.

* What exactly does it say when it fails? Where does the message get output to?

* Does this happen all the time? Does it happen only sometimes?

* Where are you trying to connect to BYOND from? In many cases, schools and employers block certain types of internet connections.

* Do you have your own separate account on the computer? If you have an account where some things you try are restricted, you might need to talk to the person who owns the computer in order to fix this.

Oddly enough, let her on as a guest, but regular accounts won't work, and still issues with the website.
