it goes black i need help

wen i play a game it sometimes comes up with a message saying something about directX but this is a 06 comp and i dont think it would need new software yet and wen i go on and press ok it goes black and takes all the icons if i move and puts them everywere so i cant tell were anything is and if i dont move i only see some players and i already disabled the check list last thingy(forgot it) and it still dosent work and people keep saying delete the .dll and im afraid to because some people say it wil kill my computer plzzzz plzzzz help me if u can

Danial.Beta	My first suggestion would be to go to the Microsoft website and update you computer. It is possible you have an outdated version of directX. You can run it in OpenGL mode, but I'm not sure if that will help. Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to update your machine. Do as much updating as possible, and see if that fixes it.
