Descriptive Problem Summary: Going to pre-face this by saying I sent this in discord a while back and worked with Spev and Ter so this info is in bug chat. (https://discord.com/channels/725444629172060262/ 725458744711839873/1217495812750315700). Also want to say this is going to be a confusing bug report so sorry in advance. I am happy to jump on a discord call and work through it
When I try to compile my map it crashes. This has been happening since before version 515. I dont remember the exact build it started but aa few months ago.
Normally I just keep trying and eventually it works but now it just wont work all. Dream maker straight up closes out.
Terr and I checked for weird map / line errors using a text file - no issues there.
Numbered Steps to Reproduce Problem: Open map and compile
Expected Results: Map loads
Actual Results: Dream maker crashes.

Does the problem occur:
Every time
In other games - no just this project
In other user accounts? - N/A
On other computers? if they are on old BYOND version then NO. But if I update then YES. (Even if I roll back the update but I have to play around to find the version where it works. Its weird)
When does the problem NOT occur? - If I downgrade to like an old build of BYOND - still happens but I can eventually make it work
Did the problem NOT occur in any earlier versions? If so, what was the last version that worked? - Not sure. Will update this post once I try with all the different version that were recently out to see which one fixes it. But probably like version 5.1.3 or somewhere there from way back
Workarounds: Downgrade to an old version of byond. I tried multiple versions until it eventually worked. At some point it happened again.
I first installed 515.1623_byond that gave same issue so then I did 515.1623_byond but BYOND pager thinks im on 515.1623 (thats what I see) cuz its asking me to upgrade to 515.1633.

I asked you for the project weeks ago and I'm still waiting for it. I can't do anything without that.

Adding this for extra clarity.
I need you to stop wasting both of our time chasing down which version this crash started in. There are plenty of times that's useful, but this isn't one of them. Even when it is, withholding the means to reproduce the problem is never helpful. The only way this gets fixed is by me compiling the project myself and seeing the crash in the debugger. So zip up your code and find a way to send it to me. |
Version 515.1593_byond works perfectly as well
