Things got off to a bit of a rocky start this week, when a bug fix release accidentally introduced some new issues with macros. I tried to throw in a last-minute fix to an issue that's been plaguing Russian-layout users for a long time, and it caused a bunch of problems that completely evaded quick testing. Having to do three releases in the same day gets tedious. I ended up pulling the two broken releases entirely, because there was really no point leaving them up.

Since then I've been back to work on 516, and although I was going to do more button-up work I actually have thrown some focus into a feature request because it'd be good to knock that out first. This impacts parsing however, which first sent me down a rabbit hole of looking into another thing that had been on my wish list for a while.

As it happens, the feature request that started this adventure might not really be a great idea. Looking at the way things are done at runtime, I don't know if this will save anyone any real time, which was the main point of it all. The syntax for it is great, but as syntactical sugar goes it might not be enough to be worth it. I'll have to mull on this some more.

We're coming to the end of January, and I want to thank all of you who've contributed to the project by becoming BYOND Members or by contributing on various donation platforms. I'm really humbled and grateful for all of you.

Last weekend I made the dangerous mistake of making cookies. This time, I'm tempted to make the mistake of using what I learned to make more cookies, or even just use up the rest of the dough I had to freeze. Some arts are dangerous to learn. The tree is still up.
Yes bro cookies are good but bakery is a good skill to invest in, I learnt to make pie pastry a few years ago just by mixing butter and flour and let me tell you: it pays off. Whenever you have leftover soup or something you can just make pastry and put it in a pie to recycle it
