This has been a whirlwind week, but the new computer is here. That means another few whirlwind weeks lie ahead while I get that set up. For the moment I'm still on the old system, but I'm ready for the spin-down on short notice.

One of my goals before the switch was to get a new BYOND release out, but, well, I was talked into a major change to Byondapi, and the week has overtaken me. I've only just gotten the Byondapi stuff done, but "done" means not tested yet, and so I have to do a whole round of testing. It's possible, but unlikely, that I'll try to push out a release on Saturday. I say unlikely because once I'm in the system transition, I don't want to have to deal with any bug fixes right away. So it's highly probable that the next BYOND release will be on the new system and at the end of next week.

The Byondapi changes will make CByondValue "plain old data" which eliminates a lot of the usability issues people had with it, although that also means strings have to be handled differently. A few new important functions have been thrown in as well. There's a detailed look at this in today's Patreon post.

As ever I'm grateful to all of you BYOND Members, and those who contribute via other channels like Patreon and SubscribeStar, who keep the lights on and make everything possible. And thank you so much to everyone who contributed to the new computer fund, which made all the difference.

Next week: You should be getting these updates from a new system, with everything still in a tremendous amount of flux. I'm hoping to get BYOND 515's beta cycle put to bed very shortly and get moving on WebView2 right away. But boy is November gonna be busy. Until then, Halloween is nearly here, so resist the temptation to buy a bag of Take 5, go frighten some little kids, and mak gam.
