Dream Seeker crashed when entering software rendering mode.
BYOND Version:515.1615
Operating System:Windows 11 Home
Web Browser:Chrome 117.0.0.0
Applies to:Dream Seeker
Status: Resolved (515.1616)

This issue has been resolved.
Descriptive Problem Summary:
Unable to join some SS13 servers on beta 515.1615, likely more than just this but these seemed like good test cases;
Paradise ss13
Colonial Marines

Numbered Steps to Reproduce Problem:
Upgrade to byond version 515.1615
Click the pager's join button for one of these test cases (Our direct links also stopped working in 515.1614, but that's probably on us)
Have the game open itself in a new window, closes near instantly with no runtime error logged

Does the problem occur:
Every time? Or how often?
Appears to happen every time, found out about this last night from multiple people being unable to join the game until they downgraded to 515.1614
In other games?
Only tested SS13 so far
In other user accounts? yes
On other computers? yes

Did the problem NOT occur in any earlier versions? If so, what was the last version that worked? (Visit http://www.byond.com/download/build to download old versions for testing.)
515.1614 and lower

It sounds like Dream Seeker is crashing. This should leave information about the crash in your Windows event viewer. If you can get the info from that, I might be able to determine the cause of the crash.
As a note for anyone else, we're debugging this now but if you have the same issue and can get a mini-dump, that can be very helpful. These instructions should help generate a mini-dump when the program crashes.

You have the same issue, so I've reattached your post here.

The current best info I have suggests you're getting kicked out of hardware rendering mode, or you're already in software mode. I suggest changing your preferences in the pager if you happen to be in software mode before trying to join a game.

Obviously software rendering mode shouldn't be crashing, so I'm still trying to figure out what's going on with that.
I have a dump file but i dont know how to send it
Harware launches and the game almost works but crashes before anything is shown, then kicks me back to software
So it sounds like the problem is whatever's kicking you into software mode. I don't know if that's new to 1615 or that was always happening, although the software mode crash doesn't actually appear to be new.

I've confirmed that the crash was in the software renderer, and I have a fix ready to go for that, but I need to do more testing to figure out why the heck you're getting kicked into software mode. I might end up needing to do some private builds for that on Monday, although over the weekend I want to get the fix for this up.
