Hooy boy it's been a week. the kind of week where as I type this, I'm not even bothering to fix any typos because screw it. You'd think with the holiday making for a short week it'd be nice, but I've been up early every day. No it is not mice.
Planning fo the new system continues, and all sortf of prepration for the move like I've mentioned before. I was gonna put the new optical drive through its paces but I haven't had a chance, so I'll probably do that tihs weekend. The new drive can't come with the new system so I had to get it separately, and I can run it on this system to make sure it's good (and plugged in and ready to go).
Another big thing is updating the compiler toolchain for BYOND, moving to a newer version. I had already half-started this a while back so it was mainly a question of updating a few more files, but I also had to contend with the fact that the Visual C++ runtimes have changed. This means the whole installation process is different, which meant i had to muck a round with the installer. I'll probably need to link to the VC++ redistributable on the downloads page too, in case people don't use the installer. ALthough mabe I won't, because screw those people. Anyway I want to get out a release with the new build setup before switching systems so I can be sure it'll be good to go on the same compiler when I upgrade. I don't plan to install the outdated compiler on the new system.
Earlier in the week before brain drain set in hard, I did a litle more work on the skeletal code I've been working on for skin-on-map stuff. It's got a long way to go and I really think it needs to be done in a compiler properly to progress much further, not in a text editor like I've been doing. I mostly did it to remind myself I need to be sure to keep up this code through the coming mygration. Yes I did just make that typo. No I'm still not fixing it.
The Indiegogo campaign for the new system (and chair, and maybe monitor) is going into its last week. And I want to thank not only those who've contributed to that, but all the BYOND Members and other supporters who cover the regular bills.
Next week: hopefully fewer disasters and better rest. And at some point I'm probably gonna buy a few friggin' donuts. That point is proabbly today.

Happy to see the campaign hit 160% of your initial goal. Get that second monitor; it's worth it!
