how do u check your firewalls and operating system and how do you reinstal as a administrator?
|
To find out what operating system you are using, you should right-click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and open up "Properties". If it's not on the desktop, it may be in your start menu. Under that properties window, your operating system should be listed.
You may not need to reinstall it as an administrator. If you are running it under Windows 7 (and Vista, I believe, ew), you can right click on the program's shortcut (the icon on your desktop, menu, et cetera) and open up properties. Under the compatibility tab, there is an option to "Run As Administrator". Check that. As for the firewall, open up your start menu, open "Control Panel", and look for the icon labeled, "Windows Firewall" or something similar. Once that is open, check first to see if it is on. If it is, look for a link titled something to the effect of, "Allow a Program or Feature through Windows Firewall" and click on it. You should be brought to a list of programs with check-boxes next to them. Look for "byond" and check it. I hope this helps. |

LS, I do have to stress that it's imperative you stretch out your answers a little more with more details. You have space to do it; this isn't Twitter.
One thing that it would help to know: When you run the BYOND pager, and login there, do you see "Logged in as ...: Public" on the status bar? If so this strongly suggests a firewall issue. |

What would also help is if you were to use sentences with periods, exclamation points, or question marks at the end of them so that we can tell where one of your sentences ends. We shouldn't really have to sit and decipher your posts.
Below is an example. What you wrote: im going to the actual game hub and hit play to join the server then the blue box comes up then a black screen with it says that guest cannot play you can get a account at the locksmith i did this for biocrisis and pardice city This is incredibly difficult to read. Here is how you should write it. Keep in mind, that I am only guessing as to what you meant. What you should have written: I'm going to the actual game hub and hitting play to join the server. Then the blue box comes up. Then the game comes up with a black screen that says, "A guest cannot play. You can get an account at the locksmith." I did this for Biocrisis and Paradise City. Can you see how much easier it is to read that? If you would like to be helped, you should write in a manner that can be read. Until then, I'm done. NOTE: You can and should link to the games that you are talking about. You can do this by writing: Insert the name of the game here. Biocrisis |
I have only two possible guesses without any more information. One is that you may have a permission problem, from installing BYOND while not logged in as an administrator. If this is the case, uninstalling and reinstalling as an administrator could fix the issue.
Another possibility is that this is a firewall issue, and some or all of the BYOND programs are being blocked from using your Internet connection. They need to be able to talk not only to the outside world, but to each other, and they need to be able to listen to incoming traffic as well as send outgoing.
To help you any further than that however we'll need more information like what operating system you're using, what exact steps you're following to try to join a game (and which games), etc.
