Before I get into my blog I have to say, BYOND is like crystal meth and cocain, you never really can shake it. :)

I will leave for months at a time and come back like I never left. Good times since 01' and counting.

I don't think anyone reads my blogs, but they may in the future, and then they (you) will look here and see that progress was made before it was cool.

Anyways, I dug up an old post I had to Lummox JR who helped me with a higher math equation and showed me some things that I didn't know were possible. I love finding new tid-bits that shave off lines of unneeded coding. I usually make due with my limited knowledge just because I can, but having the right tool for the job is like using a philips head instead of making due with a flathead.

Point being;

Imersia which is my game and dream is a complex game. I have always loved complexity when it comes to a game. I was enthralled by Ultima Online and its 60+ skills, your ability to just go out in the wilderness if you pleased and not being forced into a linear role. That is what I am trying to capture here. Skill classes with true depth, long term gameplay and an inexaustable ability to expand.

The only problem with this dream is me, underneath type-b personality in the dictionary it says "Richard Shannon", I procrastinate, and have trouble seeing a project through to the end when I lose interest or I let the rest of life get in the way. Too bad I didn't have a drill sergeant for a parent eh?

SO anyways the progress I have made in my coding;

well as I said Lummox gave me some intense help with the one problem I could not resolve. Now that it has been taken care of I have a way to rapidly implement a large amount of information into a predetermined set of guidelines. (this is good)

What does this mean?

it means the mining and smithing system could very well have all 15 metals coded in very soon.

It means the combat system will be overhauled using a modded version of the snippet.

It means the magic system can begin.

and it also means that spending less time on menial tasks will allow me to enrich the content that currently doesnt have the feel of the depth I want to portray.
OMG

Hi Perilous! Long time no see! Remember waaay back when when you just started Imersia and I was helping you with it? Tons has changed since then. I've become tons more fluent in coding, enough to call myself a intermediate user..

Looks like a fun game, if you ever need any help the community at BYOND Prime is ready and willing(check my blog).
