This is a guide that for the most part, covers a lot of ground on Empire basic mechanics. This isn't meant to be a guide that tells you how to make the most OP build, or tell you how to instantly win, instead it teaches you the groundwork to be able to play the game and understand the underlying mechanics.
I hate google doc, post the whole shit on here. I'm not clicking that, nigga will try grab my IP.
EMPIRE GUIDE AND YOU

So, You’ve found/have been invited to this new DBZ RP game! This guide intends to be a first stop shop for people who are BRAND new or rusty about Dragonball Generations Mechanics, and unsure about the deeper level ideas that it provides.

First things first, we need to get some things sorted. If you’re coming from a Finale based RP game (Think RPT/FR/Roleplay Budokai/DU) This game 100% does not play like them, at all. This game breaks away from the Finale mold by having light survival and active training mechanics.

Now that we have that sorted, we can get onto the guide.

CYCLE, CYCLING, CYCLED

The most important thing you have to learn as a new player is the cycling mechanic. This is the above mentioned active training method that you’ll be playing with the entire game. From your first creation to your last gen before a wipe. Getting to understand the mechanic and mastering it will set you well on the path to achieving your RP goals.

The important thing you have to realize, all training methods feed into other training methods. For example, Training will feed into Meditation and Sparring. This means when you Self Train and Res (Get Resilient) a portion of sparring and Meditation will be reset from the last time you got Resilient in them. This does mean that the most optimal cycle includes all 4 training methods. Self-Train, Meditate, Blast, Spar.

The way cycles feed into eachother will look like this.

Train: Replenishes Meditation and Sparring

Meditate: Replenishes Sparring

Blasting: Replenishes Meditation and Train

Sparring: Replenishes Train and Blasting

The most general cycle that I use as the guide writer is Train, Blast, Meditate, and Spar. However if you’re a Force user you can instead use the cycle of Blast, Train, Meditate, and Spar. And there are other cycles that exist that can become more specialized for certain builds, however you’ll need to experiment and find them on your own, but knowing the knowledge of cycling and knowing how each training type feeds into another type of training, will allow you to more effectively shape your character. Asking the community what is the “Best Cycle” will often give you dramatically different results as each player typically builds their own cycle that they stick to.

INFORMATION ON RACES

Unlike other Finale based RP games. Races in this game actually have unique differences that make them diverse to play. Every race will play differently to every other race, and playing one race one wipe will vary drastically to playing a different race another wipe. I’ll explain more about each race in the section below.

Humans/Earthlings: Humans are the classic Jack of all trades master of none. They can be Technology based, power based, and even skilled at Magic. But the time investment to make them “good” will have you sticking with them for a long time. Their Power level mod will be VERY low at the start of the game, but if you stick with them, their Full Power Level Mod (Shortened to FPLM by the community) will reward those that stick with Humans for the long haul. They are sexual mates. They require 2 people to next gen. NOTE: When going down the techie route, CYCLE!

Namekians: Namekians are special as they are a race that don’t have to eat to maintain their H/T/T. They are also one of the few races that can self mate. Meaning they don’t have to have another person to mate with. Namekians are typically slightly forced based, but Melee Namekians are 100% Viable. Namekians are also the only race that can Regenerate lost limbs if they learn the skill to do it.

Mayko: Maykos are tanks. Their endurance is actually one of the best endurance rolls in the entire game. Only beat out by a Min-Max Physical alien, but Maykos are also more balanced in their other stats as well, to a degree. They also start on earth, making them new player friendly.

Spirit Doll: Spirit Dolls are force whores. They have really high energy and force. Of course the same saying for Maykos, they’re beat out by a min-maxing force alien, but their other stats are more balanced to compensate. They like Maykos start on earth, making them new player friendly.

Half-Gods: Half-Gods are near and dear to my heart. They trade their decline of normal earthling races for a bigger PL mod. The Power level mod trade off on the highest roll is actually near a low end changeling power level mod.

Saiyans: Ah, the first race every noob makes. Saiyans are generally middle of the road like humans, but without the ability to make tech. They have higher PL mods than humans, and generally they start the game stronger than humans. They also have the ability to turn into an Oozaru at the sight of a full moon.

Changelings: This race is native to the planet of Icer. Changelings are very strong in terms of Power level, being able to outscale every other race in terms of Power level mod. Changelings tend to be middle of the road when it comes to being either physical or energy based.

Demons: Demons are the lords of hell. They are strong physically, actually really strong physically and they can give even Maykos a run for their money in terms of physical stats. They also are one of the only races that can Teleport to different planets, but that teleportation has a cost of Decline. They also have the ability to take decline from other races. Infact their entire kit runs off the mechanic of decline Manipulation. This race is not advisable for new players.

Kais: Kais are the race of the AL that watch over other planets in the living realm. They’re pretty strong when it comes to force skills, and they have some of the most unique rank abilities. They are the longest lived race in the game and have some of the most interesting skills. This race is not advisable for new players.

Tuffles: Tuffles are the strongest race when it comes to making tech. However they are very much physically weak, and honestly they are the only race that I would recommend not cycling on and instead focus on int medding, thanks to their racial ability to be able to gain Personal gains from Int medding. It typically doesn’t matter what build you roll on a Tuffle, you’re going to be bed-ridden anyway.

Aliens: Aliens are the RNG race. They also can choose to spawn where they want. They have 8 different classes which each have their own advantages and disadvantages. They’re also the only race that have a full 15 stat points to play with, due to having no invested stat points at start. The classes are as such

General Alien: This Alien class has no favored mods generally, they can be built in whatever fashion you wish.

Physical Aliens: This alien class focuses on Melee stats. That means Strength and Endurance. They can be the strongest in terms of physical stats depending on how lucky you roll them.

Energy Aliens (Force Aliens) This alien class focuses on energy and force. They’re very strong in terms of force and they can be some of the strongest depending on how you roll.

Yardrat: This alien class is more of a specialized class, they get a special skill in terms of Instant Transmission. Generally they can be pretty balanced in their builds.

Metamoran: This alien class is again specialized like Yardrat. Instead of getting Instant Transmission, they can get Fusion dance.

Tech Alien: This alien class turns you from a fighter character into a techie. You become like a Human, able to gain QP based on your personal gains. Note: DON’T JUST MEDITATE WITH THEM, ACTUALLY CYCLE!

Wizard/Witch: This alien class focuses on energy. They’re the best when it comes to Magic and have some of the highest energy mods (Note, not force, just energy) in the game. They have the ability to Majinize and Mystify people respectively.

Another note about Aliens. They’re the second race that can choose to self mate. Also all of their rolls are very diverse thanks to how RNG they are. No two aliens will ever be exactly the same.

Newborn: This isn’t technically a race, but this is the option that will allow you to make into your next generation character.

MODS AND YOU

I’m going to go over the different mods and what they mean! Mods determine how much of any given stat you’ll gain every tick when performing different training methods. You will not see the exact mod that you have when you spawn in. And no, you will not be able to get an assess of any kind, don’t bother asking in OOC or AHC.

Energy (ENR): Energy is a stat used for things such as self training and any energy attacks.

Strength (STR): This stat determines how strong your physical attacks are vs endurance.

Endurance (END): The inverse of strength. This stat determines the amount of damage you’ll absorb from a melee attack.

Speed (SPD): This mod does a couple of things. It determines how fast you’ll attack and modifies how fast or slow your cycle is. Low speed mods will actually have a faster cycle and vice versa for high speed mods. There’s no direct benefit for faster or slower cycles, it’s just player preference.

Force (FOR): This mod determines how powerful your energy attacks are. All Force attacks are projectiles meaning if the force icon hits it does damage.

Resistance (RES): This mod determines how able you are to block damage from force attacks.

Offense (OFF): This mod determines how many times your melee attacks will actually land vs defense, as well as landing critical hits. (Head and Torso shots)

Defense (DEF): This mod determines how often you’ll dodge melee attacks, much like offense, the higher this is to somebody else’s offense, the more you’ll dodge.

Regeneration (REG): This mod determines how much health you’ll regan per tick, plus how long you’ll be on the ground if you’re KOed.

Recovery (REC): This mod determines how much energy you’ll gain back per tick.

BUILDS

Builds and Stat rolls in this game work differently to how they do in other games. Instead of your starting points directly affecting the mod in which you’ve put them in. They instead raise the ceiling and floor of a mod that you’re investing in that you can potentially roll.

An Example (All numbers mentioned are hypothetical): Say you’re a human and you want to be melee focused. At the ground floor you can roll 1x mod for your strength and the top end is 2x but every additional starting point in strength will increase the ceiling and floor of the mod by .25x. So 3 points could lead to a theoretical ceiling of 2.75x mod and a floor of 1.75x. But you can roll any number in between there.

As you can see, adding more starting points to a mod doesn’t guarantee a good mod, but it helps.

As for specific builds, I wouldn’t try to aim to have the “best build” because there’s a lot of RNG involved, but here are some best tips when it comes to building.

A lot of races can play both physical and force. Don’t be afraid to run a build that might go contrary to how a race is meant to be played. But also don’t be afraid to lean into what makes a race good either. Also, unlike DBG, sexual mates have the option when they mate to keep their build. This means you won’t be fucked over if you mate somebody who has the opposite build to you.

Overall, don't be scared to try new and radical things. Builds don’t play as big of a part in the game as they do in other games, thanks to things like personal gains and next genning. So if you want to break the mold, you can very much play a unique build and be good.

PERSONAL GAINS AND MATING

The big Marque feature of this game is the idea of personal gains. Personal gains raise slowly over the course of a character’s life as you train. The magical thing about personal gains, is that personal gains increase personal gains. It has a snowball effect. Meaning over the course of a wipe, you’ll see more people get stronger as they continue to play on the same character/family.

Now, with this being said, you CAN NOT play on the same character for the ENTIRE wipe. The reason for that is that eventually your character will reach their decline, and every month save while you are in decline, you have a certain chance to die. This means the longer you stay in decline the higher chance you have to die. If however you keep playing while dead, eventually you’ll hit what is known as “Stat Decline”. This mode of decline is where you start physically losing stats every month save. With the longer you’re on your character while in stat decline, the heavier it becomes. This is why when the time comes, you’ll have to find somebody to mate with, to continue on your character’s line.

When you finally settle down and find somebody that you want to mate or you’re a self mate race. When you mate with somebody the game takes 12.5% of your personal gains and 12.5% of the person you’re mating personal gains, and adds it together for the kid. Self Mates get the full 25% of their own personal gains added to their kid.

LIFE AFTER DEATH

So you died. What happens after death is completely up to you. When you die, you’ll arrive at Checkpoint. Death is not the end of the game. You very much have a chance to score a revive with a Kai or a Demon if you RP with them. Obviously revives aren’t handed out like candy and they are at the Discretion of the player.

There is however another option: Reincarnation. This command lets you keep a portion of your personal gains. This will not be as effective as actual mating. This means that this should be treated as a last resort option, as if you were an evil villain and unable to find anybody to mate, as well as playing a race such as Bio android/Android that can not mate.

Death 100% isn’t the end of the game, and it is very much not recommended to quit the game and remake considering all of the options that you have at your disposal to come back!

SURVIVAL, HUNGER, THIRST, AND TIREDNESS

This game has light survival elements. This means that you have to eat, drink, and sleep to keep yourself alive. In the beginning this might be hard for a new player to get by, but eventually you’ll get the hang of it and learn some of the secrets in terms of getting food.

At the start, there is leg meat and steak. This is gotten from animals that dot the landscape. While leg meat and steak are easily accessible, eating better food such as more complex dishes will grant you higher hunger, which will allow you to gain faster. The best food item to eat, at the moment, is soup with meat. This item will increase your Hunger by 300% and your Thirst by 50%. This makes soup with meat the best food item.

Some of the items that you need to make soup require you to grow them. This means you’ll have to find the seeds that dot the planet every month save, get a ton of water, and grow them. The minimum amount of water needed to grow a crop is 6 bottles of water per stage, and each crop has 4 stages. This means in order to grow any kind of crop, you have to have at least 24 bottles of water.

MINING AND TECHNOLOGY

This game uses a tech system that requires the gathering of what are called “Minerals”. Minerals are used to create the vast majority of tech items in the game. The mineral list goes as follows.

Stone.
Copper.
Coal.
Gold.
Silver.
Titanium.
Mystille.

These minerals are what get turned into tech items by techies. You get these minerals by mining them in the ground. Mining can/does count for your training cycle, so you can mine on your training cycle and still get the gains.

Minerals veins work like this. When you find a mineral you want, move left or right, and there should be more minerals of that type beside it. And then you move up or down when trying to find new minerals.

EXTRA/ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If you are a Human or a tech alien. CYCLE! While you gain PG from Int medding, it’s better to be a fighter techie.
Don’t be afraid to try a new build. Most builds actually work in this game to some degree or another, plus this game wasn’t built on builds being king.
Don’t Hesitate to ask the community for Advice. However don’t expect them to suddenly be able to tell you the most broken build. DBG’s mechanics were really veiled and obfuscated. Even today most Oldbies don’t know every single little magic sauce behind everything.
