When I was a teenager, I was a nerd. I'm still a nerd, sure, and I'm quite proud of it, but back then... we're talking nerd. "EXCELSIOR!"-type nerd. Yeah.
One of my school projects in seventh-grade was to create your own exercise workout. So, conferring with my friends, we selected a music piece that would be perfect for the job (so we thought).
The Song I Selected
Now, that song is from WarCraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal. I'm sure many of you may remember it.
I thought it was flatly hilarious when I heard it. My friends all thought it was hilarious. But when you, as a thirteen-year-old boy, get up in front of a class of twenty-eight other students and get the rest of the class to do a work-out to a disco-themed song that they've never heard before, with such gems as "Why do you keep touching me?" and a male voice screaming "OOoooooOOOOooooo!", it's a frickin' wonder I got through school without being seriously thought-of as being homosexual (I absorbed an occasional accusation here or there, but I think everyone knew a couple of the crushes I had; the girls in question weren't too impressed, of course, but I don't blame 'em since I was the nerdiest kid in my school of 300 students).
I, of course, am not gay. Nothing'd be particularly wrong if I was, of course, but man... when you see stories of nerdy kids getting beat up and homosexual kids getting beat up, I'm shocked I made it out of there alive.

If you have not played it yet, I recommend Rockstar's Bully. I still need to finish the last chapter, but there's a faction of "EXCELSIOR!"-type nerds. I think at least one of them even says it.

you have homophobiaphobia- the fear of being afraid of gays/being gay. If you aren't gay, don't be afraid to just say "I'm not gay." Don't worry about people freaking out about you not being hypersensitive :P

I thought you wrote "don't be afraid to just say 'I'm gay'". ;-) |
I know your not, that wasnt the point. My point was that people(including you) are so afraid of being homophiobics, that hey have to add needless crap like 'if i was gay that would be okay too'
|
Well, yeah, I'm afraid of being accused of being a homophobe. Because I'm not a homophobe and saying "I'm not gay" implies that I care about being heterosexual in a strong way (which I do), I also have to clarify that while I do dislike homosexuality, I don't dislike people who are homosexual.

I bought Bully, but it might be short enough to defeat with a decently long rental or two. I think it's one of the better games on the PS2.
...Of course, being able to get health by making out with teenagers helps. ;) |
If it's a good game, I'll give it a buy just for the sake of it (like I gave Fable a buy for the sake of it).

but I don't blame 'em since I was the nerdiest kid in my school of 300 students If you're going to be a fish you might as well be the biggest fish. |
Don't be afraid to be afraid to be gay! Homophobophobia is an underdiagnosed condition.

You could have done a workout to "Mechanical Man" instead, though techno probably isn't better than disco to most non-nerds.

I bet you regretted that purchase. Fable? Not at all. I'm happy to support Peter Molyneux. I rented the game and nearly finished it before I bought it. I still enjoy popping it into my Xbox now and again and playing as my evil Spuzzum character (yeah, I used my old alias for an evil character ;-)) and beating the snot out of the guards. It brings interesting perspective to my life. ;-) I'm probably going to buy Bully, now that I've rented it. It's quite fun. A little less freeform than I'd like, but still pretty damned good. I'd also recommend it to anyone who wants to step into the shoes of a not-quite-so-psychopathic guy in a Grand Theft Bicycle type of game. ELATION AND COBBO Firstly, Cobbo is female, and secondly I was referring to the time I seduced this girl's boyfriend, got him to, er, touch himself openly on webcam, took screencaps and then molested the girl's little brother. But uh, yeah. |
