Make alpha mask/displacement map filters handle mask's icon_state, dir, and animation.
This will add more visual flexibility to projects, I can imagine 3 features i'll add in my project when this thing will be released.

Bumping / +1-ing, I started a few projects assuming this was the case and was disappointed it was not.

In a filter, the mask is determined during the render phase, not the pre-render. The pre-render is where the actual resolution from icon, state, dir, movement, animation to a single frame is done. The reason current filters have to use the default frame is they have no way of doing that resolution.
So it's on the radar but it's a tricky beast to work out.
