Knights of the Old Republic was released in 2003 and has superior graphics and gameplay compared to it's third and multiplayer counterpart released in 2011. I'll admit that due to the sheer volume of content they want to add that makes it hard to increase the quality of content but I would much rather have had a higher quality game with a longer development time. It just feels like I'm downgrading and I don't understand why I should downgrade just so I can play with other people. Even then they didn't stay true to the classes found in Kotor which is one of the main reasons I would have played. You my friend, are very lost. The graphics style is different not realistic, but overall they are better. Gameplay, well its not a single player game but as it looks im actually surprised and really want to try it out. They even went and said that it plays like their single player games...This game is huge, they have said it many many times. "Its bigger than every Bioware game ever done, put together.", "Just on dialog alone, it has more than 60 Star Wars standard sized novels worth of words in the game, and that was awhile ago." Had I not played Kotor 1&2 or had I been 10 years younger I might say yes but until they make a game for Old Republic & Star Wars in general purists I'll be sitting ring side. I have not played either one, and age doesent matter lol, sit ring side cause this is the purest Star Wars game that will ever come out, how can it not be!? O.O! Im not a fan, but ill be playing this. |
The style is different. Kotor tries for realism, Tor has more of an animated look. But your saying Kotor has better graphics and it doesent. Look at the details, shadows and particles. An old game cant compare to a new one, ever. And its the same company so...lol.
Youtube gameplay, btw. And since im not a fan I dont play many SW games. And just like you, to comepare something all I need is pictures. |
I've actually watched many gameplay videos of TOR and spent hundreds of hours on KOTOR. I don't judge just based off images. This statement "An old game cant compare to a new one, ever." I think is quite ignorant. If you believe that a new game is always better than older games then you obviously know very little about games. I'd suggest brushing up on your gaming history.
I've been playing computer games since I was about 8 and I've calculated that I've spent over 10,000 hours gaming. If you've been anywhere near your library's self help section or watch a lot of TV then you'll know 10,000 hours if what it takes to become a specialist in a subject. At the end of the day I trust my own opinion on these two games. If you choose to play TOR regardless I truly pity you sorry. |

Same company and same IP. Yes, graphics will be obviously better on the newer game. Which, is something your saying as false simply because the style is not 'realistic' as Kotor tries to be. If videos and pictures isnt enough than hardware requirements should be. And im not in it for the graphics. I just like the whole concept of the game. More interesting than anything out there at the moment. GW2 also <.< That is looking good too. |
