The classic is also bigger and bulkier and doesn't have as many features as the other ones have. It is very simple lacks a touch screen and still uses the turn wheel. Where as the iPhone and iTouch are more advanced being able to make and receive phone calls, surf the web, download and store apps and information from online, connect directly to apple, has a touch screen, ETC.

The iPod classic comes with a spinning disk HDD. This requires a lot of space and power. Fortunately the classic has a small screen and basic OS so it doesn't suck much power or use much space on anything else. The iPod Touch/iPhone have flash based memory on them. This reduces the space and power requirements a ton, but also limits size a lot. Flash based memory also costs a lot more per GB.
It wouldn't be impossible to have an iPod Touch with an spinning HDD, but it would be at least twice as thick and probably half the battery life. |
