I am looking to hire a coder from one of the numerous freelance websites,
rentacoder odesk guru etc.
What coding background should I look for in selecting a coder to work on a BYOND project? C++?
Many Filipino workers will happily jump at an opportunity to work for $3-5 an hour, so budgeting constraints will not be difficult, with proper workflow structure I should power past all coding issues I personally have had for the past umpteen years.

As far as coding experience goes, I'd look for C++, Java, any of the big ones that implement object-oriented programming paradigms.
