I have the feeling that you're not seeing this one from a realistic point of view. BYOND does not pay it's players, so the players want something they enjoy.

It was just a simple comparison between walmart and BYOND's high player base games. For example:
A new Wal-Mart destroys jobs by putting local merchants out of business.
is equal to....
Byond's superpowers putting other games out of business.

The games have to compete for the players, else players would have to be paid to play.
How can you compete against something you don't stand a chance at? Their are games that have better icons and popularity than the others. These games dont worry about competing , they have no foe/opponent.This brings me back to my previous argument that this will lead to rips.

.From my experience when i used to look for games to play i look for a game with at least 15 to 18 players.

then what *you* look for in a game is 'numbers' or even 'people', not whether the game is any good or not. head count != good game, or even a fun game.

BYOND offers ONLINE multilayer games, and if their is not enough players online to play with then it will be boring.

that is the fault of the game (or the developer), not BYOND. you can't expect BYOND to go "hey! you can't make your own net dream unless it's a game that always has at least 15 players in it." what about games like Last Robot Standing? or Castle? or Teridal (formerly Seika)? or Ultimatum? these games thrive on small player counts because that's how they are designed. most of them either only support several players at once, or provide enough to do without the need of hordes of players.

that's not BYOND's fault, but the lack of effort of the developer(s) to promote and advertise their game or listen to their player base in making changes/updates/fixes or (more likely) to come up with games or concepts that people might want to play, not the n-th Naruto/DBZ/Resident Evil game.

'a very good game' is relative, and relevant only to *you*. your mileage may vary.
That makes a lot of sense.

or you get more developers to make the games the kids want to play.

I never look at it that way before, i am a teen and am still consider a kid.Maybe i might have some of the ideas that kids will enjoy.I just hate to see so many people's hard work go in vain.

hey, give me some of that helium you are smoking.

they are not putting the games 'out of business' - they are just more appealing to the quick-fix power-hungry unwashed-masses.

that is understandable, and i agree. although i bet the really good developers understand that not everyone is going to play their game from the outset, since their game may only appeal to a finite set of group interests, such as board games, *real* role playing games (not this MMORPG nonsense), or turn-based games.

Explain to me the purpose of the Single Player Guild then?

I'm pretty sure it's for people who are more reclusive/desire to play a game by themself.

Yes, but those games are obviously boring.

I know, right? It's not like single player rpgs or other single player games make a reasonable amount of money or anything entertaining like that.

OK idk anything about byond guilds and i am specifically talking about multilayer games. I know their are single player games for single players but thats not my concern. I am talking about the multilayer games on byond not the single player games.

This should motivate you! Try creating a game that is better. There is basically three options. First, we can sit here and complain how anime is taking over, and nothing will ever get accomplished. The second option is that we can use our free time to support game developers or create our own game. Or, we can simply leave the community.

It's really nice if you can code, icon, map and design whole game alone. But most of us aren't able to. No matter WHAT game you try to make, you will never find coder, or iconer, or they will never do a thing, it's just impossible to make a game.
Personally, I was making posts for iconer for month, and nothing. And no one want to play game which has really bad icons. Seriously, no team, no players - no interest, why would anyone make anything?

I'm on a PSP at the moment so I'll add you when I get on a computer which will be between 2 and 3 hours from now

On a PSP? You must have quite a bit of patience, considering your even typing with good grammar.

It is easier when I only show new posts and I always use correct grammer except when using "txt talk"

I had absolutely no trouble finding someone to create icons and two others to take care of the maps. People were begging me to get in on the action with any little scrap of help they could offer.

Hopefully one day I'll actually finish that project.

You are member, and you have personal avatar, people remember you from posts on forum, as your avatar is unique, thinking you are BYOND Staff, or just pro at game making.
Also it makes people think when you are making game, it will be successful, however when unnoticeable people (non-members) do posts, nearly it's hard to remember it, name (text) is much harder to remember, than Avatar
