Im trying to track down this old game.
The only thing I remember about it was, the second "stage" was some kind of evil forest, and it was lightning.
I think you played as some kind of alien?
It was a sidescroller. Ran in DOS.
Sorry, don't have much more information, but if anyone knows of this game, I would be grateful if you told me! :)

Yeah, I've been looking for one myself for a long, long time. Can't think of the name.
There was this first person dungeon crawler, which was tile-based. You started out in these caverns, fighting bats, giant spiders, and such, finding shields, swords, living off of jerky, jolt cola, water, berries, etc. There were health, hunger, thirst, and energy gages. There were also these fountains you could find gold and riches in all over the map. You entered glyphs to cast spells, there was this really powerful sword I remember, called the sword of venom. Another of the items was a mirror, that when you used it, gave you an overhead view of the area you were in. Really, I don't remember much, as it was a long, long time ago. I think the telltale details, was that it was a first-person dungeon crawler, and there was jolt cola as a drinkable beverage, (which is totally out of the setting, so will probably ring a bell with more people), and that you just rolled up a character, and explored the dungeon. My brother claimed the game was called like, "Link quest", or had a "link", or a "quest" in the name. But he doesn't remember either. I've been searching for this game forever. I can't find it ANYWHERE. I downloaded it from Prodigy, back when Hugo's House of Horrors was still a popular game... I just wish I knew the name, I've wanted to play it again for about ten years now. |

Im trying to track down this old game. omg, i love all those old DOS games. I recently found the name of one: "Commander Keen". That game filled my childhood with sunshine and happiness, and for my sister as well. Google "Commander Keen", it's not a bad place to start. |
There are a lot of first person rpgs for the PC, most notable are popular are:
Eye of the Beholder Dungeon Hack Bards Tale Wizardry Eye of the Beholder starts you off in a dungeon right away, but i don't remember any fountains. Dungeon Hack, started off in a Dungeon right away too, but you had a mini map to use. Bard's Tale started off in town, where you rolled up characters and then explored town and made your way to dungeons or even wilderness. So that leaves Wizardry, which I haven't played much. But you start off with a text screen with options like this: 1.) Town 2.) Dungeon 3.) Import Party 4.) Export Party 5.) Create new Party And then the menus would expand based on that, you would roll characters and when you wanted to, delve into the dungeons below. |
I don't remember much about it.
The only thing I remember was... 1) It took place in some kind of old mansion? 2) At one point, there was a dog or a wolf inside the house, trying to kill me. 3) Something about a hidden pond / cave? I remember a boat being there. +50 cool points to whoever figures this out. |

You (and everyone else that has posted in this thread thus far) played some boring DOS games. Why, all I had were:

The Incredible Machine I loved that game, it was one of the few games of that day that made me think in places. I was always beating every game I touched really quickly back then and I was so happy to find something that didn't take me an hour to finish. |

Im trying to track down this old game. You might be thinking of Monster Bash by Apogee, only in the game you played a boy in pajamas armed with a slingshot. The first two stages were outdoors during a thunderstorm with leaves blowing, and the second stage was in fact an evil forest. I don't remember enough about Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure to be sure if that's another viable answer or not. Lummox JR |

What, no one here has played Leisure Suit Larry or Secret of Monkey Island? Thank you! Where's all the people talking about how awesome these games are? King's Quest, Space Quest, Gold Rush, Codename: Iceman, Leisure Suit Larry, Monkey Island, Zak McKraken, Maniac Mansion... All of those adventure games were the staple of my childhood gaming, and all of them are still fun (to me) even today. |
I used to play this game called Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure that sounds like that.
