um, well, it is some kind of byond error, which is to my computer, nothing on my computer can fix this game to work on my computer, while on win xp sp2...
its something in byond that is erroring with my computer, since it is showing up in the byond window and such, and not a windows error... anyways, as i said, nothing on my comp can be changed to make it work, so its an exception on byond that does it, and it should be tracked down even if the vast majority can still play byond, because it happens on my friends new vista computer too...and such.. my specs are way better than on my other xp, so i know theyre good enough for byond, since it works on the other xp pc with sp2, with the game... plus ive restored this comp and it still dont work...so.... its not on my end.. |
ok, there needs to be a swift shaking of your head back-n-forth to clear the cobwebs. you have said yourself, that the problem lies with something that changed in SP2. BYOND has no control over your computer in setting up SP2.
restoring the computer is useless because you just put it back the way it was last time - SP2 and all. and if removing SP2 fixes the problem, then there is probably an issue with SP2 somewhere. contact Microsoft- you paid enough money. compare your settings on your machine to that of a machine running WinXP with SP2 that does work. must be something different! and it's hard to 'track-down' a potential bug when you give very little info about it. what version of BYOND are you using (see the About box under Help)? it could also be an intermittent bug from the game itself. you'll have to contact the game maker to see if they've any ideas. also make sure you have completely un-installed BYOND (not just erased it), and downloaded the latest mentioned in the recent Announcements forum by Tom. if that *still* does not work, post a properly-filled out report in *Bug Reports*, giving as much detail as you can. heck, post a screenshot of this 'bug' - i'm sure we'd love to see it. otherwise, this thread is going no-where, and we'll close it down for lack of any concreate reproduceable info. |
