Alright, if no one knows yet. Bioshock has been leaked. Primarly by Toys R Us... Seems that the east coast got luckier then the west. I was wondering if anyone here of a mature age and already plans on purchasing the game would maybe pick up a copy early for themselves and if comforable with online transfers pick up another one and maybe overnight it to me? :) I live in Idaho and most of the leaked games are popping up more east. My Toys R Us has already had a million calls, me being the millionth =P

Is this just a rumor or is there proof? I mean the demo has been out since like last week. A lot of stores have to be careful about "leaking" pre-sale-date games, due to the fact it IS techanlly illegal to sell before the street date.

Yea, its true, in forums people have pics to prove, and I actually got to see it first hand.

I wonder how that happened. I guess they sent out a memo with a typo in it or something.

Across the country, people go to your store just to see if they made the same mistake. Pretty soon you have people buying stuff just to justify the drive to the store (especially with the high gas prices, these days...) |

You don't think they manufacture millions of copies instantly, do you? The game is out when they've made enough copies. They also want to hype up the game so that they get better sales.

Of course, but I imagine it's probably near completion but not done yet.

Most Nintendo games are done nearly a year before release, this gives them time to advertise using actual game content, mass-produce copies and test the game with testing groups.

Yeah it is illegal, but only the first initial store is the one fined. Toys R Us were the retailer who first did it. I was hearing they can be fined up to 7k per unit leaked. Ouch :) I can't find it anywhere in my area. I'll just wait like I should =P I can always play the demo over an over...I usually find something new every time and still get surprised from a splicer I forget about, haha!

They may be done, but they are definitely not mass pressed and sitting in boxes. :P

I'd actually like to see the proof you have for that. They wouldn't need a year in advance to simply test the games, when most games have an entire group of game testers already set up for them, that test the game through most if not all stages of production.
It simply isn't good buisness to have the final product ready and not sell it until year later. Not to mention that mass producing a game isn't nearly as hard as mass producing a system is. One is complicated hardware and software while the other is simply a software disk. |

A polished game is just a waste of time without anyone knowing about it. In the case of Brawl and following what Nadrew said, they're probably giving the game some time for ex-fans to see why they should become fans again (there's bound to be someone) and for newcomers to see what this version will be like. Minus being the reference for who's/whats in and out which it is, the website pretty much matches what I just said. |

Sorry, I still fail to believe it. Especally the advertising part. The fact is, I have seen very little advertising for video games, in general. I have always found out about my games through word of mouth, or simply checking my local store.
Esepcally with brawl. here are no ex-fans, only veterans and the second brawl is out, they will flood the streets trying to get a print. The website is a poor example, considering there are people who still don't have the internet. |

But what you know could be extremely limited. since you don't know everyone.
