It's freeware and specifically designed to show how well opnGL will work on your card (as well as giving a lot of info about said card).

Windows throws out the good old 'we're closing this program down even though you could probably still use it' when it tries to start up (I take it its not a good thing, then?)

The same thing actually happens in BYOND.

EDIT: I checked out the Installed Programs list and it turns out the control center's size is only 0.02MB. I think the driver screwed up the installation.

Its a ATI Radeon X1300. (Apparently: I didn't know how to check the graphics card like that 5 weeks ago, so we downloaded any driver that sounded like the right one and installed it)

Would the stuff in the brackets make a difference?

You should probably check their website for the latest driver for that card specifically, maybe that'll help.
