Applicable Configuration:
BYOND Version:
Operating System:
Web Browser:
Game/Hub(s): hub:// http://developer.byond.com/forum/miniforum.cgi

Descriptive Problem Summary: Because most cell phones don't support javascript, it is not possible to login on the BYOND site, even from the miniforum. This may be small, but it is annoying(And kinda ruins a part of the point of the mini forum).

Numbered Steps to Reproduce Problem: Go to http://developer.byond.com/forum/miniforum.cgi in your cell phone, click login, look at the blank screen.

Expected Results: A basic login page to have full support of pretty much all browsers.

Actual Results: The standard login page made for newer and more powerful browsers.

Does the problem occur:
On other computers? Any cell phone with no javascript at least. Many "Links" type browsers would probably be affected too.

When does the problem NOT occur? When on a browser that can run javascript.

Workarounds: Don't use your cell phone for Internet?

Although my problem is directly a cell phone, any browser with no javascript would be affected, including those that block javascript to untrusted sites(See: Noscript for Firefox).

The login works fine without javascript - try it. My guess is that your cell phone is buggy.

Seems you are right. I downloaded Opera for my phone, no problems. I think the problem is that it has half javascript. It is incomplete, but complete enough to convince your javascript checker that it has it, if'n I had to guess. My bad I suppose. I guess I can just use Opera for my "BYOND on the Go" needs.

In my (limited) experience, the browsers that come built in to phones are pretty crap. Opera all the way.

Opera doesn't even choke on table-formatted websites, unlike my phone's built-in browser... it just chucks out the tabular format, keeping the contents. Which is the correct thing to do, really.

Well, the built in browser takes advantage of all the buttons on my phone, like the page up and down buttons on the side. Opera, however, views the normal forums fine, it even compresses the sidebar into something that I have to expand. Leaving the important content always visible.
