Alright, I've been gone to long and havn't kept up with how all the new things work with BYOND. I've looked through some BYOND members sites, etc... and I cannot find any information on contacting someone. Is it just that they have to include that information on there own will on there site, or is there a place I am just not looking for contact info. Thanks

It's up to the user to make their contact information visible.

Which I find partially odd! If you look at the page of a non-member (the "people" page) you see their key name, specified gender and the date the key was forged for certain, as well as if they're online and if so in which game(s) they are right now. Try this for a member and... they suddenly have the ability to "remove" that information from their site!

For the low price of $15, be able to fake your forge date and look like an oldbie, as well as gaining the ability to hide others' ability to see what game you're in!

Seems like discrimination to me. :(

Contact information falls under things like email address and mailing address, not your gender and online status. And all someone has to do is disable CSS to view someone's visible information regardless of their CSS.

Hm, thanks Nadrew. I was assuming that was the case, but I wanted to be 100% sure. You should message me sometime Nadrew, have something even you may be intrigued by. Hope all is well in BYOND land =)

Except the new layout options for Members allow them to suppress the "Your Info" tab, effectively hiding that information. Since we can't override the "people" page to not redirect us to their site, it allows them to forge information by creating a custom content box and name it "Your Info" w/ their information inside.

Who cares, though? Unless you're parsing someone's key creation date in a game (which would be a weird thing to do, but still) and wanting everything to be fair and stuff, I really don't see why people couldn't screw with their CSS to 'forge' this stuff.

It's entirely trivial data.

Wouldn't the info still be there if you were parsing the pure text version of the website? I never really put much thought into it, but I assumed the old info was there it was just invisible or covered by the new information.

Not if you actually remove the box entirely via the layout feature (not CSS - go edit your site and look on the Layout page, you'll see what I mean), as AD was saying.

The date the key was created can be important data, for instance when you want to determine how long someone has been on BYOND. If the date is faked, you can't do this. Since BYOND Members are capable of doing this (and non-members can't), it's discrimination based on $15.

For the low price of $15, be able to forge your own creation date! No longer will you be mistaken for a newbie; everyone who doesn't know you will automatically assume you're an oldbie if you act this way and changed your date.
(And don't laugh and say it's not possible to act as an oldbie: a newbie doesn't know the history of BYOND, and now this poor newbie can be abused by the "oldbie", who is telling him to ignore all other oldbies and follow his/her lead. Influence is easy to obtain here!)

Which is trivial data. And it's not reliable anyway, since people tend to change keys.
