Well that was my point.... Rips benefit Byond, so i dont understand why even this whole post started...
Everyone knows that rank doesnt mean anything.. so why bother with never-ending threads similar to this one when the rips will NEVER go away no matter how are we (including me >.>) try to get rid or give hard time to the "rips"?
Bad choise of diction. Sorry. I meant... well.. it brings more players in to play those games, and end up buying membership >.>

If you are going to have a successful "business" you have to learn to cope with everyone. You even got to know to do "trades" with your enemies for your profits.
Byond is making profits from these players. -> $$ -> Advertisement -> Having quantity will bring quality if it is used well... P.S. i personally didnt understand the stuff about Dan and Tom (i dont even know who they are >.> sorry, but it sounds like they are staff of Byond?) | |

Anyways Rips are Rips and they will always be there. They have been around form the dawn of byond. We just have to learn to live with it (or limit their power). But there are major problems is see in this like the massive cluttering of the unpublished section (make a channel for naruto and dbz games more pronounced so new devolpers making a Hub know were their games should go). 75% of the published games are never played by more than 2 people at one time. And the ranking System is Flawed (Alot). I think if you have a problem with rips dont play them! The fact is ppl acutaly like playing them and love it so much they want to be a owner and cant program(but cant so they rip). My solution to this Whole Rip Problem Is that is you have a problem MAKE A NON- RIP GAME that ever 1 loves and NEVER give the Friggin Source OUT! Ungh That was my rant... -Genjura | |
Ranking actually means a lot to some people.
Think about it, if you just came into BYOND, you would want to look at the best games. You wouldn't know about rips, or anything else about BYOND. You click "Top Ranked Games" to see which games are the best. Ranked first is a Naruto game, so you go and play it. You find it really fun, and think the owner must be really good to create a game of this quality. This person doesn't even know it's a rip. Then they go and buy a BYOND membership, then rank the game. Then they say to their friends that BYOND is cool and they should play this game, and the loop starts all over again. Now this is really good for BYOND, though I know that most programmers have a lack of motivation. I myself will stop creating a game if noone comes on it. By letting these rips show up as the "best" games on BYOND, you are closing the opportunities for other original BYOND games, who would florish with some motivation and support. ADT_CLONE | |

There're better ways to encourage more intelligent games/players than to go round deleting stuff.
Think of it like how the nazis killed people they saw as unfit to stop them breeding, whereas the americans just encouraged rich successful people to breed more. So in essence you're Hitler*, and Tom is an american war hero.
