Every month or so, i scroll through my bookmarks and come back to BYOND. I check around, sometimes log into a game, and once in awhile I will find a game that really sticks out. CIB's space game was pretty good till it got over-complicated, Seika used to be good until it was turned into a free for all, Loud's final fantasy, the now impossible Castle, Fast and the Furious now dead, etc. What Byond needs is a few people with diligence (don't look at me I can't keep on top of washing my car) and even mediocre coding skill to take advantage of some good ideas and put a game out there that ISN'T Naruto, or DBZ. It's almost painful to see 180+ games life and 97% of them are the same content.

Here's a few idea's I know I will never get around to.

An RPG where there are about 6 dungeons to choose from, at the begining of each game the GM / Host / elected player will choose one, and all of the players can go through the dungeon beat the monsters kill the boss, and at the end save their progress and move on to the next map. This would kind of be a BYOND version of DnD or a paper maze rpg me and my friends used to play during church services.

Star Trek - multiple ways, either each player can take command of a ship and roam a large unbroken galaxy full of stars and planets that can be randomly populated with a dungeon like battleground and or a city, where they can buy trade or sell cargo to upgrade their ships, improve their leadership skills, upgrade their crew etc etc etc. Buy or capture their own planet, break from the federation and form their own alliance.

or the staff plays an active roll in the game, sets up missions on pre mapped planets, takes care of promotions, and the entire game revolves around one ship, with away teams, small skirmishes etc.

A racing game would be nice to see again on BYOND, drag racing was amazing fun and fairly simple, upgradable parts, different cars, auto and manual transmitions.

a merchanting based RPG where each player is a king in their own land, and they trade for wealth or produce their own, build cities, amass large armies, explore dungeons and host events all in a mideval setting.

Also a quick question about the idea I have chosen to pursue;

My current game has been in the works off and on (mainly off) for God knows how long. I have been focusing on depth. I noticed as of now, all of the RPG's on BYOND are fairly short, one of the games tops out at level 70 or so as far as new content or expansion and that takes about a day depending on a few variables, it's crafting system is limited to predefined artifacts etc.

I am wondering if it sounds like a hit or miss for me to have an extremely in depth game on BYOND. where the skills can be gained indefinitely however from the start come slowly, where the mining and smithing is limitless in its combinations, ie 15 metals, 7 qualities, 20+ magical enchantments for each of the 60+ craftable items. A combat system that combines 7 different combat skills along with three different statuses (similar to UO).

Would this encourage more players or would it deter them? It is late and I have been up since yesterday at 6, (gotta love the all night gaming stints) I will come back and look to see if i was typing delusional tomorrow morning, then try to refocus and recommunicate my question.

Have a good night everyone.
