I bring you something horrible. Now, Im all for cloning and such, but this...this is just WRONG. They are combining animal DNA with humans to produce what they call, a 'bio engineered perfect pet'. I call it scary. What do you think?
Genpets, the scariest thing since Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
I agree. Seriously..that is WRONG far beyond words. I'd prefer an actual animal as a pet to that thing o.o

These things are an abomination! And scary to boot. Im going to have so many nightmares now...
Oh shoot! I can't wait to get my Genpet! I'll name it Pickles!
That is actually very interesting. We are making advancements in medicine and science that border science fiction. I have been looking into many different articles about different types of genetic tests, I actually read one about combining human cells into animal cells. They put human brain cells, in a monkey's brain. They said that it was a minimal amount that it wouldn't really do anything and that by law they couldn't exceed a certain percent.

Im not sure if you guys are being sarcastic or believe this for real... The site was a project for some university graduates, completely fake. I think it was a study on human morals versus scientific evolution, I forget all the details though.

Although that site is fake, companies most likely will create hybrid animals eventually.

I would SO get me one!

Much like they are already, and have been for some time.

True, they did splice rabbit and human DNA, and let them develop for a few days. They have also produced pigs with human blood flowing through their veins.

Though, it's not too much different than receiving a bovine graft, in my book. People with shoddy hearts sometimes get bovine ventricle replacements. I also think there was a guy who got his liver replaced with a pig liver until he could get on the waiting list for a human liver...

Maybe my view on things is a bit different, though, I can understand the wrong in it. I don't want to have to deal with the day down the road that I'm the "racist" grandfather that disowns my daughter for marrying a human-giraffe hybrid.

O_o

...Human-giraffe?...You mean my friend Greg?
Irregardless to whether this site is fake or not (though obviously it is the former), anyone who thinks genetic engineering and biomodification is 'evil' or 'wrong' is a damned luddite.

Protip: Farmers have been genetically engineering new species of life for thousands of years.
It's so much a part of our lives and history that not only can we genetically engineer life but we should genetically engineer life.

With great power comes great responsibility. Oh, and great awesome.
Liek TEr13 said, they are aleady doing that wit bunny and human dna or osmethin to that effect. I don't really care about cloning for saving people's lives, but selling them as pets and stuff is wrong...

lol that thing is ugly, y would anybody want it as a pet in the first place, now if they made some uber awsome geneticaly engineered pet that could speak enlgish and i could ride around on and breathe fire on people with id be all over it =P
In response to Ter13
Longer then that. What do you think breeding animals is? When ancient farmers of times ye old only sowed the good seeds from their last crop, they were practising genetic modification.

We've just got a faster and easier way of doing it now.

I never said I thought that bio engineered animals are wrong, just these things, thank god they're not real. The company claims that they are animal and human DNA mixed together, and sold as pets. Thats not right, its part human, and it looks like a baby human, also

Big deal... most simians have something like 90% of their DNA in common with humans. Don't chimpanzees have 99% of the same DNA? I guess by your logic that makes them 99% human, too. Is it wrong to keep them as pets?

I think you need to reassess your directives (cabal'd) on the subject of genetics... you're thinking in a far too gut-reaction 10-commandments style that really doesn't help the whole scientific-progression scene.

Id so buy a Genpet. I'd dress it up all gangster. Buy it a chain and a grill...Thatd be sweet.
In response to Elation
That's not the point. I understand that chimps and apes are closely related to humans DNA-wise, and I also believe that we evolved from them, but they were created naturally. These things ,if they were real, are not natural, they are some half-human freaks that were created in some laboratory. I might be less sickend at these things if they weren't packaged the way they are - chained up in some airtight package and sold on storeshelves like some 1-3 year life baby.
