I turn on my computer today, and all of my documents are wiped out, everything has returned to default settings, like it just made a new User Account!

Is there a way to get my old one back?
Rebooted, and it was fixed.
I looked in Documents and Settings, and it seems to have created a TEMP folder that had the "new account" in it, I have no idea why this happened, anyone care to shed light?

W32.BYOND infected your computer, and caused it to create new user accounts for the whole family!

...most likely a virus or something evil.

AVG returns nothing.

Anyone else use the CPU?

(I assume you mean the computer, not the CPU)
No.
Just turned it on today and it had the same account name, same account pic, just a TEMP directory where it was taking my account info from (so everything was reset, it was asking if I wanted firefox as default, default wallpaper, had IE set as browser, etc.)

You can try to run ad-aware and spybot found here: http://www.lavasoft.com and http://www.safer-networking.org

Alright have that, and I doubt spyware could do such a thing.

If you have windows xp, you can try to use system restore if it is enabled.

It' already fixed, just by rebooting, I still have no idea why it did that though.
If you do some kinda crazy stuff with roaming profiles where your profile directory is over the network, and the network is inaccessible, this happens.

It's the only time I've seen Windows create a weird temporary profile directory like this.... but there's really no reason to being doing something like this for a home user (I don't even do it on my work computers anymore... too many issues)

Nope, not on a network either.

Maybe it was a fluke?
