I woke up and stepped on my DS cracked the top screen, brought to eb games and got a new one actually, a new one with mario kart for 20 extra since they had no regular DS's. You need to pay 15 dollars for a warranty over 90 days though.

I just said what I heard, but it was similar in a sense. She was carelessly opening a coffee and got burnt and suddenly it's McDonald's fault? Bee-ess.

Third degree burns, hospitalized for 8 days, skin grafts, McDonald's admitting to more than 700 claims of the coffee temperature burning people, with one of their own employees stating that their coffee was not fit for human consumption because of it, and that she would have avoided injury if the coffee was served at 155 degrees or less (when it states that home-brewed coffee is even made at 135).

Yes.

All that BS doesn't change the fact that she spilled it on herself.

You are right, all of that does not change the fact that she spilt it on herself.

But it also does not change the fact that McDonalds kept their brew at a unreasonably high, dangerous temp. that could cause 3rd degree burns.

It also does not change the fact that they ignored the 700+ complaints filed about their coffee every single year.

When someone offers a service to the general public, they have a responsbility to that public to work as safely and effectily as possible and McDonalds simply did not do that.

They could have easily avoided the entire thing by doing a little research, looking into the coffee burn complaints and changeing the coffee tempature.

They got what they desrved due to their reckless actions.

Besides, if you even read the article, you would know that McDonalds could have lost a LOT more money in the case, but the jury and the court reconized that it was partly the fault of the old lady and deducted from her total accordingly.

I was thinking about that. But I just realized that their warrenty said they'd fix any manufacturer problem, and there is one with my DS. When you turn it on, there is always one tiny blue pixel, even when playing games, on the bottom screen. Im gonna go in there and complain about a single pixel. >=) If that doesn't work, I'll try to install a new LCD. Any idea how hard it is?

Actully, theres a blue pixel on mine too. I think its just something in each DS or something.
In response to Snapboy300
NO NO NO! It is NOT! It is a pixel defect and should be covered by your warrenty if it is not already up.

I got my first NDS with 6 RED pixels in the center of my screen and exchanged it for a new one which was crystal clear.

But there is one myth I would like to clear up. Turns out that not all pixel defeacts are like burnt pixels or dead pixels. Some of them are simply stuck and would radnomly fix themselfs as the screen pixels changed colors.

Then for the PSP and NDS someone invetned a stuck pixel changer that flashes the screen several colors very very quickly and this would in turn actully unstick those stuck pixels.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Liebeck_v._McDonald%27s_Corp.#Attempt_to_settle_and_litigati on

During the case, it was discovered that McDonald's required franchises to serve coffee at 180-190 degrees Fahrenheit (82-88 degrees Celsius). At that temperature, the coffee would cause a third-degree burn in two to seven seconds. Stella Liebeck's attorney argued that coffee should never be served hotter than 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius), and that a number of other establishments served coffee at a substantially lower temperature than McDonald's. Despite this claim, home and commercial coffee makers often reach comparable temperatures. For example, Bunn [1] mentions "the ideal brewing temperature of approximately 200°", and [2] mentions "water at 200° Fahrenheit (the ideal temperature)". Cuisinart mentions for at least one of their coffeemakers [3] that "After brewing, the heater plate will keep the coffee at about 180°-185°F". The National Coffee Association instructs that coffee be brewed "between 195-205 degrees Fahrenheit for optimal extraction" and consumed "immediately". If not consumed immediately, the coffee is to be "maintained at 180-185 degrees Fahrenheit." [4]

So you're blaming them for something you or someone you know did to your controller? Sorry, but I have to say you're full of BS. If the warranty is good for 30 days only, then it's good for 30 days ONLY. Besides, it's a game, big deal? I'll admit that I play games all the time, but hell, I can easily live without them.
-Exophus

No, I blame them for the controller knobs falling off & the D-Pad sliding beneath the circuit board from normal use - their fault.

I've purchased a fairly large handful of items (everything from a power supply to a cell phone) at the relatively new (a couple years old now) local Best Buy, and so far I've not had any bad experiences...

Though, last year we went there early on the Day After Thanksgiving (echoes into silence) sale (I forget exactly why... not to shop for some high-ticket item that was on sale, but to get some little thing that we could have gotten any other time, yet it somehow became imperative that we went there that morning) and that was insane... But that's through no fault of Best Buy...

I am also entertained by their "Geek Squad" gimmick (but have no use for it)

Past that, they've done me no harm, nor have they gone above and beyond any expectations...

Yay for indifference!

I find them to be a great store to buy a laptop, 4 AAs, a new stereo head, and a fridge in the same trip(OK, so I have never made that trip before). Most of the people working there know enough about their department to show me where products are and are smart enough not to try to talk down to me(Very rarely am I buying anything I don't already know everything that I need to know about the product).

The only time I was disappointed was when I was looking into getting a Laptop and I could not get a sales rep to save my life, it seemed that one man was talking to all the computer section employees at one time, and he wouldn't let them walk away. Beyond that, they have always been fair and nice to me. I was even able to return a product that I had a sister item of that was malfunctioning. It was still sealed but I had had it for about two months before I decided to return it, which is about a month past the normal policy. I didn't even have a receipt. What nice people.
