I have had a DS for almost a year now, but all I use it for is to play GBA games -_-;
The only game I have is Mario Kart DS, and that gets old after awhile. So Im trying to make a list of games I need to get for it.
So far I have a few

New Super Mario Bros
Phoenix Wright : Ace Attouney
Wario Ware, Touched
Animal Crossing
Metroid
Meteos
Super Princess Peach
Mario and Luigi : Partners in Time

Any other games I should get?
A psp.

Ok, I will be for real, I think there is a mecha assult game comming out soon for it, that may be good.

K, Ill stop by sometime.
Meteos and Super Princess Peach are worth getting, if your not already holding out for Starfox DS and FF3.
I found Spiderman Unlimited was a pretty sweet game. It's not everyone's cup of tea though so if you get the chance ask to try it in store before you buy it.

i heard that a legen of zelda game that is the sequal of wind waker is comin out for it that looks ok...
Most of those games are good reasons to get a Nintendo DS, but just because they are good reasons that won't make them fantastic games.
The New Super Mario Bros. is way too exaggerated in most game play reviews and by most NDS players. It is a fun, quick, action pased platformer and thats about it.

The New Super Mario Bros. was supposed to re-deliver the SMB franchise to players, while still being able to let people stay connected with it.

What they ended up making was a clone of SMB with some added stuff and it does not live up to all the hype it was given.

It is bascilly SMB1, with some new monsters and stages. Mario can now jump kick off walls and he can also perform a super high jump if your moving fast enough.

The new special abilites added in, Small Mushroom, Giant Mushroom and the Blue Shell, feel like they are just throwen in there and are not given much thought at all.

I only had to use the Small Mushroom Once in the entire game, I only used the Blue Shell once (I never needed it) and the Giant Mushroom is just a waste of time.

The difficulty rating for the game is horribly low and the game is riddled with so many 1-Ups it makes me sick. I died like twice in the entire game and I had like way too many extra lives.

Trauma Center started off as a nice game, only to added in little monsters and magic seals. I thought i was in for a nice operation sim game. But what do you know? 2 or 3 operations into the game your charater finds out he has magical powers that allows him to slow down time and heal people faster. By drawing on the screen you can create magical seals and perform spells.

Then they introduce the idea of these little monsters, or like these bio-monsters that live in people and hurt and destory them. Only to add fule to the fire you need to do certian things to kill them, like shoot them with medical laser or drain them of their body fluids and shoot them with a medical laser. I am not making this up. At that point in the game I shut it off and sold it to EBgames.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attourney is a alright game, but I bet a lot of people didn't know that in Japan this is a GBA title. Thats right, they took a basic Japanese Text Adventure GBA game, slapped in some NDS features and sold it to the US market. Need I say more?

Wario Ware Touched is a ok game if you need to be entertained for 15 or 20 seconds or if you are on break at work. But this game is never ment to be played for more then a few moments if that. All it does is take the most stupid tasks and turn them into games, like killing snails, breaking glass or waking people up. The graphics range from nice pixel work to crappy stick figures. I think this game should have been sold under $20 when it was brand new.

Animal Crossing Wild World, I think is possibly one of the better NDS games. It takes the idea we all loved from Animal Crossing, expanded on it and even added on-line gameplay. The only problem is I don't think they added ENOUGH to the game to make it work buying a 2nd time. Not to mention the fact that the Online gameplay is serverly limited in itself. If Nintendo would have worked just a little harded with this title and pushed the online mode a little bit more it would have been in my top 5 games.

Metroid is a great game. I just don't like the fact it feels more like Quake 3 then a metroid title. Other then that, it looks great, plays great and it a solid title to get. Besides those facts Id rather play Metroid Prime Pinball.

Meteos is a nice puzzel game, but I suggest Tetris DS over it.

Super Princess Peach I think is my favortie game. It is, so far, in the Nintendo DS library the most innovate, fun game they were able to come out with. They have WONDERFUL 2D pixel graphics (instead of the lazy and often times ulgy 3D model route). Fantastic music, great controls and a plot you can get into. I suggest this game to anyone. Super Princess Peach > Yoshi's Island

The first Mario and Luigi was a pretty darn good game. I enjoyed it. I thought I would enjoy the 2nd one more. But when all I got was the same idea with a new plot and added buttons I was disapointed.

Now instead of having to worry about just Mario and Luigi you have to worry about their babie forms. Making you have to worry about 4 different buttons at the same time, it can be confusing and takes time to adjust.

It also leads to many aggravating puzzles where you need to split of the 4 marios (Their last name is Mario) and have them press different switches and stuff. It gets really repetive really fast.

My favorite games on the Nintendo DS are as follows:

Super Princess Peach
Metroid Prime Pinball
Mario Kart DS
Metroid Prime Hunters
Animal Crossing Wild World

You know what you should really do? And I know a lot of people don't want to hear this.. But get a Super Card SD or a M3 Perfect Kit and a memory media card and just download the games.

Don't those let you put roms onto them and play them on your DS? There are several games I want, like MMX-MMX5(Before the series started falling apart), Mischief Makers, Yoshi Island, etc..

BTW, Yoshi Touch&Go sucks big ones. I thought it was a Yoshi Island remake. Not so. No freakin story mode, just Time Attack and High Score mode. I cried D';? Im taking it back today to get Kirbys Canvas Curse or Guilty Gear DS.
And the finially I understand the Trauma Center comic. Eww..What a horrible plot

Depending on how you sequence the games yourself, there is a Yoshi Islands 2 or 3 coming out. (Does Yoshi's Story count as the 2nd Yoshi's Story?)

This time Yoshi is not responsible for Baby Mario's Care, but Princess Peach and Baby Donkey Kongs care too. As you swap babies at check points, you'll gain different abilites from each baby.

Now that we are on this topic I have a bone to pick. Has anyone else noticed Nintendo really likes to contrdict themselfs?

Now in the Cartoon Show and in the Movie, it is explained that Mario and Luigi are plumbers from Brooklin and while working on some pipes aciddently get warped to the Mushroom Kingdom.

But then we have a number of games that contridict this fact from the cartoon series and movie series. There is Yoshi's Island, which suggests Mario was around in the Mushroom Kingdom as early as Bowser was a child. In Mario & Luigi 2, it suggestes they were around as early as princess peach was a baby.

The time line is all screwed up, I wish Nintendo would get their story right.
In response to Shades
I have noticed that. And if they're from brooklyn, they can't be italian, they have to be italian american. Even in the Nintendo Adventure books it claims that they fell in a pipe... Hmm... This is just as confusing as trying to find the relation of Wario and Waluigi to Mario and Luigi. I heard that they were cousins, rivals in plumbing school, they are con artists posing as Mario and Luigi, and a jumble of other stuff.
In response to Dead_Demon
In a number of manuals that feature Wario, it claims that Mario and Wario went to school together and Mario would actully Bully Wario and thats how he became Mario's Rivial.

I still have not found a good explantion for Waluigi, except for the fact Nintendo wanted to make another weak and poorly designed charater for the Mario Franchise.

I would guess the best bet is they actully are cousins. That would explain the close resbelance.
In response to Shades
Yeah, I too have heard that Mario bullied Wario, at least from Warios point of view. From Marios point of view, Wario was the bully and Mario took him out. Dunno. But, if the Story, Cartoons and Movies are correct, how did Wario and WaLuigi get into Mushroom Kingdom? Nintendo needs to fx up the story...
In response to Dead_Demon
Well from a number of Wiki pages and a article in Nitnendo it said that Mario and Wario went to school.

During recess and stuff Wario would Play with mario and they would play stuff like cow boys and indians and such. And Mario forced Wario to play as the bad guy and get beat down every time.

That would explain why Wario is evil, lol.
In response to Shades
lol...That would explain that stuff. I wonder, what ever happened to that girl in JumpMan? And where did Daisy come from? Is she Peachs sister?
In response to Dead_Demon
Paulen was the girl in Jumpman and Donkey Kong. She was later snubbed by Mario for Princess Peach. But Donkey Kong apperently still loves her, but Paulen still only has eyes for Mario.

This is explained in Mario VS Donkey Kong for GBA.

Daisy is Princess Peaches cousin if I remeber right. I don't know how Peach fits into the Mushroom Kingdom. As a vast majority of charaters and races in the Mushroom Kingdom are NOT Human. So I would assume they all found their way by accident into the Mushroom Kingdom.
In response to Shades
That, or theres an island somewhere with only humans, like that island in Wario Ware,Inc for the GBA? If I remember correctly, Wario went to live in another land after his defeat in Super Mario Land 2. Assuming this land is in the same world as the Mushroom Kingdom, it is full of humanoids, since all you find in Wario Ware, Inc is humans.
I'm just gonna list a games that you should consider getting. Most of these are out of the newest issue of Nintedo Power(september) btw; so check it out.

Chibi Robo
Mario Hoops 3-on-3(This was made with Square Enix; looks and sounds pretty cool)
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl(For all those closet pokemona fans, you can play online '-.-)
Mechassault : Phantom War
Castlevania : Portrait of Ruin

Hmm..I'm sure you want games to play NOW but these are coming out sooner or later..0_0
