Hi. I have an original picture of the Challenger Space Shuttle just as it was taking off in 1984. I got it about 5 years ago when I went to Florida and my father's friend, who is a well known news editor, presented it to me. He asked me not to sell it, unless it came to my education, and I need rather an expensive amount to begin, in two weeks. Can anyone give me an estimate or a quote what you think it'd be worth? and should I sell it on Ebay or like the National Space Foundation, but I'm sure they have pictures. I don't know. He said it was real valuable. Thanks.

It is worth exactly $1, and you would find it in your best interest to sell it to me quickly before its value drops. I will buy it from you for twice its value, at $2, just because I'm a nice guy.

Seriously though, it probably depends on the physical quality of the material and the exact contents/quality of the image; so it's difficult to say without seeing it.

All that is in the photo is the challenger taking off, and alot of smoke from the rockets. The guy has a signature which I can't make out. But it's in very good condition. I'd think it was taken not too long ago if it weren't for the "challenger" painted across the shuttles side, and the date on the back. It's about 9X5. That's all I can say.

I hate to be morbid, but my guess is that a shot of Challenger's last launch (which was in '86) would sell for more than one of the previous (successful, and thus, uneventful) launches... So you're not likely to get very much out of it...

Actually, it probably won't sell for more than any other poster/print of that nature... Plus, 9x5 is rather tiny as far as wall art (essentially) goes...

Your best shot is to find some sort of collector...

One thing that might help increase the value is that signature... However, you need to figure out who it is, which might be very difficult (you might try to write down a few guesses, and then search through some lists of names of people involved with that mission to see if anything sounds close)

In the end, though I hate to be a pessimist, I personally think that it isn't even worth trying to sell it...
