I got skipped ahead, but that's in Australia, and I believe the school was the group that originally suggested it. :P

ORLY?

Given that I got skipped ahead a year, it's very much possible.

Of course, the year in question was year 7, and this is Australia, but still - very much something that can happen.

So what, are you saying you went into class one day and said "I hate my friends in my current grade, permote me to a higher grade!"

Because if not, it is irrelevant unless you explain to what circumstances you had to be able to skip a grade.

Because basically all he is saying is he dislikes he current year and wants to go to a new one. Not a good reason to ship a grade.

Dragonn it is hard for me to tell if you are joking or not about the whole I skipped from 6th.... TO 10TH! Beat that! Hahaha.. thing, because if you weren't, I don't believe you.

It's perfectly relevant, because it demonstrates that skipping year levels is entirely possible.

Of course, I didn't walk into the principals office and say "Put me in a higher year level, dangnabbit!". I got asked by the school I was moving to after year 6 whether I wanted to skip a grade.

EDIT: Changed 'irrelevant' to 'relevant'. Damn those sleep-fairies!

I already said it was irrelevant.. So are you agreeing with me?

dj : having no bearing on or connection with the subject at issue; "an irrelevant comment"; "irrelevant allegations" [ant: relevant]

Ok I have to go off topic here, what is with your Cube JP and why is it growling at me?
In response to Shades
It's a gelatinous cube.

Specifically, it's an icon I drew for Ruin. :P

Well Shattered, from the way you phrase your sentences and the way you go about trying to get across your points. Makes it seem like you aren't as smart as you think you are. Maybe its just me that notices it. And the other kid that said he skipped from 6th to 10th, bullcrap.

For the 6 bilionth time they are NOT older then me they are my age, in my grade im 14 and everyones 13. They are not much different then me I hang out with them all the time, I dont want to skip 2 grades in a row by 8th I mean like finish 8th then go onto 10th thats skipping one grade.

If that's universally true, then logically I must hate myself.

I am consumed by my nerdish self-loathing! My soul cries out into the blackness! Agony, agony!

And now if you'll excuse me, I need to go and cut myself.

I am NOT wanting to skip a grade because I dislike the people, thats only a minor reason, the main reason is I dont feel like im being challenged enough I come home with no homework because I finish it in class its so easy, Ive even helped my older brother out with his homework in 10th that he couldnt even do! So I do have many good reasons to skip the grade.

This is a message board and its like 1 am here why should I perfectly phrase my sentences? This isnt a english test im just chatting with other people. My sentences are readable I may not have puncuations and stuff but my spelling is pretty good. If I had to I could write excelent sentences if I took my time I just dont see the point on a message board.

Idea. Go through ninth grade. Then, if you feel as if you can move ahead, go to eleventh grade and pass tenth. Never-the-less, you'll have to take the tenth grade classes for credits in summer. BUT, you will have two grade levels done in one year.
In response to Jp
Uh... We're talking about from eighth(finished and skipping nine) to tenth. Skipping ninth. Not sixth to eighth. No one is going to allow you to skip four friggin' grade levels, buddy. Skipping from sixth to eighth is possible. You don't have credits there. Your argument is irrelevant.

We're talking about skipping from ninth to tenth. Basically saying they've finished eighth, and would be going on to ninth, but choosing to skip nine and go to ten. It's a whole different ball game BECAUSE of credits, which I believe you need 32. Missing ninth grade would mean you missed...eight+ credits. Depending on the classes you were GOING to take. I believe the most credits you can miss is....wait...FOUR? Since when did people get special treatment? I don't find this right. In fact, I find that to be really stupid. You miss out on a year of learning and you're taking a shortcut that many other kids can't use. That makes people HATE you more because they know that it isn't fair!

You're getting the break, the break that they couldn't get EVEN if they asked the teachers. I don't necessarily agree with grade skipping, but if someone were to, they would have to be DEAD serious. Especially when skipping a grade that will fail later on in your later high school years. You'll be that dumb senior that failed. Then watch yourself get picked on.

Still, you need better grades the "A's and B's".
Most likely High A's (95+)

Damn, do I wish this applied to me. :/ I was told if I put in effort, I could skip a grade but I didn't. I stayed with everyone "my own age" and it was by far the shittiest experience I can remember so far. I socialized better with people older than me, and by older I mean I would speak exclusively with the security guards and teachers on lunch breaks because nobody else cared about anything other than "measurements".

I never thought of myself being smarter than anyone else, but that didn't stop the other classmates from assuming I did anyway. Feh.
In response to Shattered wings
You're supposed to be taking AP/Honors classes anyway, so you shouldn't be using that as a reason to skip grades.

Hell, skip classes (Not Hookie, I mean skipping from something like Alg2/Trig to Calculus.). Get involved in stuff like school politics, clubs, and even sports.

If they don't have clubs for your interests, create your own!

Don't be lazy and whine when you're doing nothing about it. If you have too much time, then find something to do with that time.

Yes. Like I wasn't really athletic in the twelvth grade, but hey, I signed up for volleyball and ended up being fairly good. :D
