Well, Ive thought about skipping a grade im currently in 8th and at the end of this year I want to go into 10th. I got the grades (A's B's straight A's if I actualy put effort) and I can easily get those grades in 10th. My friend skipped from 6th to 8th so I know its possible I mean I started kindergarden a year late because I missed the cutoff birthdate to start school by ten days so I had to wait a hole friggin year. Has anyone ever skipped a grade? if so how can I come of doing this? is there a hole procress i have to goto maybe summer school?

Thanks, I really hate the people im around in my current grade because they are so immature but I reallly like the people a grade ahead they are a lot different.
I really don't know if you can skip ninth grade - it counts for records, mostly for those things colleges look at.

I do not believe that you can skip ninth grade, because it will be part of your GPA. Plus, there are a lot of classes each year that you will need to take. You probably can't skip, and if you could skip 9th grade, you'd just have to be a senior another year. =0

As well as if your education system is the same as mine was in TDSB [Toronto District School Board], you need a grade 9 english/math/science class (compulsory subjects) and you couldn't take a higher grade level without the prerequisite (eg: Gr 10 ENG needs you to take Gr 9 ENG)

There are exceptions but still, it's better if you don't skip a grade, make some friends and all that... unless you're a loner and want to get school done quick

Well, aside from the spelling and grammatical errors in your post (I'm going to assume you'd do better with effort, or on paper), you can't skip to the 10th grade based on your marks.

However, let's assume you fail 9th grade, or just any one course in 9th grade. It's a course that you need. When you're supposed to enter 10th grade, you'll still be in 9th on record because you failed that one class.

Once you make up the credit for it next year, you will be in 10th grade on record. It will take place as one of your electives. If it takes the whole year to get this credit though, you will be in 11th grade on record.

That is really the only way you can skip of grade of high school, but of course, you won't actually be doing it. You need to go through all four years of high school.

My dad skipped a grade like in the 1980s he went from 10th to 12th, he just had to take a summerschool class. what I was asking is if anyone did it and what procress that they had to go through

That's a different story. Their are places you can go to that will give you a valid education for any one grade (or multiple I beleive) over the summer. You can also take an online course.

Down here in Florida, (I dunno if there is a school like this anywhere else), but you can take high school courses and college courses at the same time. You go to high school during the day and college at night, all at the same school. You have midday off.

The courses in the college portion of the day pretty much rely on what you have learned in the more simple high school courses earlier in the day or the year.

That is, unless you don't need too much previous knowledge of the subject to learn something new about it.
That's sixth to eighth. Not eight to tenth. I'll let you know that tenth grade is much harder than eighth. Eighth is one of the easiest years you'll have. Unless you have a email or you got something in the mail approving that you could skip a grade? You can't just skip one. Good luck with it. =| Skipping a grade slows you down. You miss a full year of learning. The tenth grade year will be much harder on you if you don't go to ninth grade. Trust me. Go to nine first.

Yep. Credits, hun. CREDITS. They're not going to just GIVE you those credits from ninth grade. Lol I think this is wishful thinking.
Skipping a grade makes you a nerd.

=| Programmers hate nerds.

Probably didn't know since he's from middle school..But really high school is alot different from mdidle school than you think.. You sure you wanan leave yours buds behind? Anyways, yeah you can't skip. You gonna have to forfeit you summer to school in order to get out earlier..
I skipped from 6th.... TO 10TH! Beat that! Hahaha, nah, its pretty easy to skip grades I dont know exactly how to get the 'paperwork' or whatever you need, since my parents did that. But it was pretty simple, you take an aptitude test and they place you in the grade level you scored in, easy.

BUT PLEASE, dont skip grades, I wish I would have went through each one, you will REALLY REALLY regret it, you might not believe me but after you do it you will!!! Just stay and live a normal and good life!

Um... I dont pretend to understand schools, because I dont even understand that 'A day and B day' thing, everything is so confusing and everyone else knows a ton more about 'credits' and all this other stuff that I know nothing about, but still I get better grades than most and thats all I know... I dont know why but I have a humongously hard time learning socially based things.

That's kind of scary.

Hmm maybe if i go through 9th then skip onto 11th?? I dont know if its much of a difference but give your opinions on this. I really dont care if im a little slow at first, im pretty smart I easily pass the work in my grade without studying or reading up in textbooks.

If you were elegable to skip a grade and your teachers agreed, I'm pretty sure you would have been approached about it by now. Also, there are a number of required courses. Just to name a few our district has to take:
Health (1)
Economics (1)
Government (1)
US History (2)
Modern World History (2)

Plus the core classes.

Also, highschool will be a large enough change, without skipping into the middle of it. There's only two or three kids at our highschool who skipped years, and they're like... mad scientist smart. Are you in any honors/advanced classes?
I think that getting B's without effort isn't good. You need to get A's without effort.

And hell, if you like upperclassmen, then hang out with upperclassmen.

Not necessarily. I am fairly certain I could haveh skipped at least one grade before, if not more. I never paid attention, never studied, never gave much of an effort, yet I still got easy A's. It wasn't all because I was some kind of wonderkid though, as there were several factors contributing (Like in math, when my sister started school I would join in learning from her homework and I continued that for quite some time, so I was always several grades ahead in math.)

I was on some team of smart kids thing, I think they called it the QuizTeam or something like that; I was the math and science backbone of the team. I was also approached for some advanced learning thing, but when I did the test project they gave me for that, apparently it wasn't how they wanted it even though I followed all the guidelines to a tee (apparently there were some "implied guidelines," whatever that means.)

Still, I was never approached concerning that. And when I say no studying and little to no effort, I really mean that litterally. I would have liked to have skipped a grade or two so I could have gotten on with work and college sooner. But oh well, I'm correctly placed now in college at least.

Yes all my classes are honors/advanced. Hmm im thinking about doing 9th grade and at the end think of skipping, if im having a slight hard time getting through it I wont skip a grade if I dont well ill try to skip I just have no clue on how to.
Shattered wings, they are a lot different because they are older then you. And they are going to be different from you.

You need to stick with your own age group and your old friends. I don't like to like stereotype people, but when younger kids hang out with older ones, they are going to try their best to impress these older friends and will be willing to go further lengths to become liked.

At my High School my last year we endeding up taking the 7th and 8th graders and putting them in the high school. They actully seperated the school in two and made it "illegal" for these two class years to be in the same building with the other.

So obviously I am not the only person who thinks that. With the higher the age, the higher the peer pressure and I honestly blieve that.

You are in 8th grade and get OK grades. My sister is exactly like you, not only that, she participates in every single kind of after school activity possible to try and make herself look better.

You can't just say you want to skip a grade. There are extenuating circumstances that you need to be able to fill to be able to skip a grade and I have never heard of skipping 2 grades in a row.

Not only would you need some sort of recommendations from school and teachers, but you will need to fill in a required grade quota, and it isn't just that, your GPA from your entire school career will also be evaluated.

Not to mention that your mentallity and your ability to concentrait and cope with brand new age and grade bracket will also be evaluated.

In short, unless you are something short of amazing you are not going to just skip a grade because you want to.
