Some guy actually started with a paper clip and ended up with a house. Starting a year ago, he planned to trade a paper clip for other various items and he eventually obtained a paid speaking role in a movie which he traded for a house in Kipling, Saskatchewan. Read more about it here

Methinks I own something more valuable than an oversized paper-clip, so logically I already have a better starting point than that guy did. Maybe I'll jump in on this business. >=)
Anyone care to trade my empty tin of Peppermint Eclipse mints for a new or slightly used dartboard? '>_> Hiead |

And here I am trying to work a job for money to get everything I want. Silly me. Interesting, I often stay up at night contemplating the number of steps it would take to go from paper clip to a car. Seriously, who thinks of that:P |

Seriously, it sounds as if the idea came from a Zelda game >_<;;
Stupid chain quests.... ?: Hey, I'll give you a bottled fairy for your hat. Link: Sure *trades* ??: Hey, I'll trade you a Moo-Moo cow for that Bottled Fairy. Link: *thinking: Hmm, the cow is worth a lot more* Sure! ???: I'll trade you 1 trillion rupees for three cows that gives Moo-Moo milk. Link: Okay, be right back soon! Later on, our poor hero link is hanged for stealing a Moo-Moo cow... or whatever they were called - GhostAnime |

It'd be kinda cool as a BYOND game:
Everyone starts with a random item. They have to hunt down and trade with NPCs and each other to get to a target item (none of the players start with anyone else's target item). For added difficulty, there could be certain items that the players have to 'trade through' before they get their target item. E.g. I start with powerful speaker, target item is a cuddly kitten beanie baby, must trade through a scanner: I trade speaker for printer printer for scanner scanner for digital camera digital camera for beanie baby. And viola! I finish. The winner would be the first player who obtains their target item. |
That is interesting though. I have often wondered how far I could go if I tried to start with something small and continually trade for better things.
