My mother has yet to loose her sense of humor and she is almost 50.

Ah, yes. Women go through such changes. Men, I believe, generally suffer from mild crotchetism in their later mid years. But it is a progressive disease and, so far as I am aware, there is no cure (though I understand grandchildren might provide some relief). Other symptoms include persitant pointing and outbreaks of those darn punk kids. I understand that women seem to be resistant to the strain that is more common in men (Crotcetus crankus oldfartium) perhaps due to exposure to it in their husbands.
