That's also what happened with Zeta, or were you referencing that? Yeah, the mapper got tricked by some dude and the source was leaked.
Anyway, my first game was a rip. It's long since been deleted from the hub, but I learned quite a bit experimenting on it. It was an icon game. =D I did recode it a couple of times to support better, more robust systems, and since, y'know, my game was obtaining the title of "rip". I wasn't one of those people who released the source as-is. |
Well my first game wasn't exactly a game..But my first GAME game is this : http://games.byond.com/hub/MechaDestroyerJD/SearchandDestroy

Unzip failed :(.

My first game was a generic expanded ZBT world. It used a few RPGmaker graphics for walls and doors, but aside from that it was all original 100% made by me content. Except for the s_missile library.

Whats wrong with terrible stick figures? They never stopped Theodis from doing any of his projects. :P Never stopped Lummox JR either, for that matter, although his stick figures aren't quite as terrible as Theodis'.

Mine was an expansion of ZBT as well. I didn't use RPGMaker icons, but rather random sprit sheets of the internet and bust-a-move icons(That game was so great it was just begging to be turned into an RPG). I was never really into DBZ outside of watching the show after school, so the game on BYOND didn't interest me much.

No, I never ripped anything. Doing so would have been counter-productive since learning comes better by reading about something then doing it yourself. If I had messed around with the ripping scene it probably would have set back my progress.

I'm not actually sure if my first game was a rip or not. It was the sequel to Wurms 2, but I didn't start with any of the sources, and I had permission to make it (from both the creators of Wurms 2 and Wurms 1), but does that still make it a rip (since it was a sequel)?

Nope, just a fangame. A rip usually refers to games that use "ripped" code or icons. My first game was based off of Kunark's RPG demo, which he seems to have removed, and was called "The Never Ending Soda." Bet you can't guess what that was from ;) |

Actually I did rip the icons. Although I didn't start with the source, I was told that I could rip the icons myself.
About the Soda thing... I don't even know what a Soda is! |

My first game was a Deus Ex Multiplayer CTF game where you had UNATCO fighting the NSF.
Never got too far. |
My first game was proof of concept: can I make turfs and mobs and have the mobs wander around on the turfs? COOL, I MADE A GAME!!!
