While I was surfing around the internet, I heard a strange "crunching" noise. Come to find out, one of the blades of my cooling fan just fell off, so now, I'm running with one less blade, and the computer is humming like crazy...
I sware... My PC is going to blow up into a million pieces next.
It's making sounds like a lawn mower would make.

I removed it, but.. Now it's still humming and it "seems" to be running alot faster.
I don't know when the heck I'm going to get a replacement fan. (head hurts) It's sooo loud! |

The missing blade makes it unbalanced, which causes it to vibrate more... More vibration = More sound. If you don't want to get another fan to replace the damaged one with, there are fan vibration dampener kits to reduce the sound.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ Product.asp?Item=N82E16811999209 But, some places will sell 80mm fans for $1.99... so the vibration dampener kit might not be the solution for you. |

It'd probably be smarter to get a new fan, if a blade has fallen off it might decrease the cooling capacity of the fan so getting a new one might be the way to go

Anyone know if its a good idea(For your fan) to keep your comp on 24/7?

It might burn it out quicker, but other than that I cant see any problems.

It would be a good idea to remove the fallen blade, and replace the fan. ;)
