Ok, I got this thing called "mssearchnet.exe" and it is spyware, or a virus, or a trojan or something. I try to end the process for I can delete it but as soon as I stop it, it starts itself right back up. I have ran Spyboy Adaware, but nothing is stopping it. Any help? THe only Idea I had was to like somehow "quarintine" it then delete it.

So you are suggesting rebooting in safe mode, then trying to delete it?

Yes, and search the registry and stuff. Like post 21 on that thread said.

It may run by the internet or something, try safe mode networking or something ;)

When removing harmful applications and viruses manually, always run your computer in safe mode durring the cleaning process. The application won't be able to get a death grip on your computer, and removing it will be a lot easier.

Now I got rid of it, and I ran SpyBot, Adaware and Norton Antivirus checks yet this little pop up thing won't go away! It says to click it and I do but nothing happens.
This is VERY annoying. I move my mous over the icon and it says "Virus Alert". Does anyone know this process and how I can stop it!?! |

1. Make sure that spybot and adaware are updated.
2. Don't be so stupid as to click a adware ad trying to sell you adware removers. 3. Work from safemode. |

That looks like Spysherif. That dirty son of a B is pretty stupid..
You see: 1. How does Windows know it is the best Virus Protection system? 2. They don't have a Private Policy. 3. If you search it, there are more websites and questions on how to get rid of it then hairs on my ass. I believe it is, I had it once. |

Spyshieff... <_<
Why would I say THAT? |
http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=91538 I had that virus and if I remember right I used something along those lines to get rid of it. (It's a pain in the ass to get rid of.)

Use the advanced tools in spybot to help weed out bad things(Enabling TeaTimer is very helpful, but remember that it questions you on your changes too, that gave me some problems). Also, a product that is being made by safer-networking called RunAlyzer is great for stopping things from starting up. I have also found that a hard cutoff(removing power) is normally best after removing something from startup. You want to give it enough time to save your changes, but not enough to let the spyware change it back.

download the trial version of panda antivirus titanium... update it, and then scan your computer.
Panda is by far the best antivirus program I've ever used, and whenever i need it I uninstall it and do some things to my computer and reinstall it ;) |
The byond fourm is not the best place to ask for help, I would head over to the following site, they specialize in this stuff. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/cleanup
The link points too the Broad Band Reports Security Cleanup fourm and the members there know what they are doing. Hope to see you there, or not if the problems goes away before then :P Note, before posting you must follow the "Mandatory Steps Before Requesting Assistance" here: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13616 The Mandatory Steps Before Requesting Assistance will remove most of the common stuff in any case. |

First off - if you're going to look at porn get an antivirus program!
Haha, just kidding :) |

ya haha when I used to clean computers for people... 90% of the males always got their virus's from porn... and the last two computers I wiped for some friends had these on there... and they said they got it from porn... lol
seriously though, download panda. I fixed one computer that had the same virus thingy on it using it... and it's never failed me on any other virus others have had (even myself have had). On my dads computer alone it found 3000 virus's that ad-aware and spybot S&D didn't find. |

Well, Adaware and Spybot are not supposed to find virus's, so it would stand to reason that they do not find virus's.

Take a look at Response Number 21. It seem's to have what you want.
