You likey? My computer needs a serious cleanup. Not really, but my protection software interfere with each other. Problem is, if I remove anything or add anything, my dad freaks. Apparently, he is the only one in the world with any knowledge of protection of a computer.

He thinks that antivirus and antispyware programs can't interfere with each other.

It shrunk my screenshot down =\

My friend drew the picture for me ^_^ I also need to tidy it up a bit..I think the part of the bar with Start on at the bottom needs to be blue to go with the rest of my desktop =\

Now I look at everyone elses desktop..mine looks terrible..=(

The difference is minimal, but I prefer Kubuntu, because I dislike the gnome desktop environment. KDE and Gnome are the only big differences.

Where do you get the downloads to change the look of your start bar like that? I wish I knew, I've still got the windows XP silver theme.

Got the patch. Downloaded a theme. Couldn't set it as my theme. Help!

[edit]: The only files my computer recognises as themes have .Theme extensions. Those I downloaded have .rar extensions. Aren't .rar compressed files? Either way, how do I get the computer to accept them as themes?

You Extract them in the Theme folder >_>

If you don't have winrar, get it here:
http://www.download.com/WinRAR/ 3000-2250_4-10446177.html?tag=lst-0-1

Directly from Scoobert's Blog:
"Ok, so you have your fixed theme engine, and a nice new theme file, and you are looking to use it. Well, look no further. All you have to do is extract the .zip into your C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\ folder, then go into the folder in explorer, and launch the .theme file. If it doesn't have a .theme file, it might have a .msstyle one."

If you don't know how to extract it directly, extract it onto your desktop and move it into "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\"
Then double click it.

It isn't a .zip and my computer can't use it in any way. (It's a .rar) The computer tells me to find the program on a website, and the website says such programs exist, but provides no further information.

I hate to need so much help, but I've never done this before.

Okay, I went through all the files in the .rar file. There is no .theme or .msstyle file, anywhere in the rar. Was I cheated?

I suggest we move this off this thread, possibly to someone's blog or to another thread. We're off-topic.

Here is mine
I think mine pretty much beats all of yours. Welcome to the world of interactive desktops!

Hiead's Desktop

As you can tell, I don't like having Desktop Shortcuts. So if anyone knows how to rid WinXP Home's Recycle Bin shortcut, do tell!
