Sony is excellent at making consoles. Like Microsoft, they have only just entered the game. However, Microsoft was way more well-funded so that they could give us better hardware, not to mention the Sony PS2 was made before some of the hardware powerful enough to match the Xbox came out.

And Shades, writing to actual discs (DVDs, CDs, etc..) to save memory is a slow process. Too slow to be on a console gaming system anyway. Sony had to put a lot of money into the developement of their revolutionary processor named "The Cell" and their BluRay discs which will be of use to a lot of people. I think the Sony UMD uses that format.

And of course they could put a harddrive in the Playstation 2 and alter the design dramtically to fit it, but were they even going to risk the chance of delaying the production of the PS2 until a better console came out? Hardly. They don't take too many chances (like Microsoft does. Fortunately, Microsoft always benefitted from it).

Most of the computers at a school do not have programs that block access to a place, they have proxies. Will the Internet thing have to be connected to a router of hub somewhere? If it does, you're outta luck. The proxy will block your access to other sites like they do the computer. Of course, you can always change the proxy of your DS, if possible anyway. That's blocked on our school computers, though.

PHAIL. Sony Consoles are known to be easily breakable.

I've had my PS2 since early 2000 and it still works 'til this day. It's gone through many hardships such as 11 hours of nonstop gameplay, after leaving it on all night for a couple of nights, dropping it in the process of moving it, a power cord recall (my cord caught fire once), and more.

My Nintendo Gamecube lasted less than 3 months. It just stopped turning on one day just as my friend's did, though he had his since about two months longer than me. I have it 'til this day just to see if it will turn on. I've tried different outlets (and I've moved a couple of times since it stopped working), different power cords. I have even sent it to the people, but they say my warranty was invalid because some sticker was peeled off (WTF) and sent it back. Same thing happened to my Nintendo 64, but I had a lot more time on that muthah. That was a very good system. I must've had that thing for 4 years before that happened. Funny thing is, they didn't encounter any problems during their life. They never been stepped on, never recieved impact, and weren't really moved much at all.

My Xbox works fine, but I've had it for a year, month and a half of a month now. It does crash sometimes, just freezes up during online gaming and offline gaming. Hell, this happens about once every week, but that's no biggie. My friend has had his for just 4 months longer than mine, and he got some japanese error one day when he placed a disc in the tray. I was there when this happened, but now he has a 360. I fear that this may also happen to me someday. It's scary, online gaming is good fun, and I just don't want to buy the online adapter for the PS2 (no optional hardware, eh Shades? You can also get a harddrive for your PS2)

And compare the PS3 to the Xbox 360 and the Revolution. It is way superior. You can get better hardware and most of the attachments that the Xbox 360 has and offers for $700 for $400 on the Sony PS3. Nintendo just won't be too much competition for either, though many people will buy all three. I'd buy a Revolution just to play some of the franchises the Nintendo has.

Nesso, I don't "PHAIL" at anything, anyway. In the previous post, I never said anything about the consoles being very durable, but they are.

When its all said and done, Nintendo will and always has come out on top(Profit wise at least). They are the only company that is actually making money; their sales are down yet their porfits are up, while Sony and Microsoft's are the exact opposite with their sales up and profits down. The PS3 even has a estimated manufacturing cost of $900 so they will definitely lose plenty of money per system they sell(They would have to sell it for $750 to lose $150 minimum). Xbox360 ain't exactly doin too well either; most people are waiting it out for the other next gen systems and their little artificial shortage backfired. I must admit their other scheme is working really good; charging $299 for the standard 360 and $100 for a hardrive/or $399 for the core system just to play old xbox games on it. Anyways, this topic is about the new DS's features, so uh back on topic. 0_0

You phail at recognizing your example doesn't apply to everyone.

You phail for saying one console that isnt even out yet is much better then one that is out and one we know little about.

You phail at thinking Shades doesn't know about getting harddrives for the PS2.

FLAME WAR!!

(More to follow of things you phail at later.)

You didn't read what I said. I said the orginal Super Nintendo CD add on, the disks came in cases, the memory was in the cases, not on the cds. Its was like built in memory cards.

Just because Microsoft has a lot of money dosen't mean crap. So don't try to use that.

Its a proven fact that while Microsoft has the most money, they also lost the most on their last system, the Xbox.

Out of the 3 developers, Nintendo actully rakes in the most profits from their stuff.

I started my game life off with the Nintendo, and it was awesome. The other systems couldn't hold a candle to the Nintendo.

Not only was the Nintendo cheaper then the other systems, but it had great gameplay. And even when the Sega Master system came out Nintendo still dominated.

And in my opinion that still stands true today. Nintendo may have made some mistakes, but they have never made any mistakes that tarnished the Nintendo image.

Their hardware has always been inexpensive and durable. I am sorry to hear that your Gamecube died after 3 months. Mine got submerged in water once and when I dried it out, it still worked aside from the system clock going dead.

I dropped my PS2 once on a carpet and it would smoke out of the vents when ever I tried to play it. So we both have different expiearences.

Nintendo's usually has great game line ups that are fun for almost any age. Granted that Nintendo has a lot less mature content then other developers, but that just shows that you don't HAVE to have that kind of stuff to have fun and Nintendo will still even tailor themselfs to your needs if you feel you do need that. Best examples would be Resident Evil series on the Gamecube and Conkers Bad Fur Day on the N64. They try to appeal to as wide an auidence as possible.

Nintendo has always been smart and innovative and thats why they always get my top vote. They also always offer me the best prices on hardware and games.

Sony came out with the orginal PSX later on, and I also enjoyed that very much. Not only was it a great system for classic role playing games, but it had graphics that were out of this world. And while Sony will never stand as tall in my mind as Nintendo does, I still respect them.

Microsft's Xbox, I can't say much about it. I got one near the end of the cycle here and I got it modded right away. I got an upgraded 40GB HD in it, but I only have 3 or 4 games on it. The rest goes to emulation for Nitnendo, Sega and the Sony PSX.

Xbox trys to tailor to a different auidence, they try to be slick and cool and say, if you don't choose us, your a moron. I am highly annoyed with how Xbox fans act.

Most of their games are Sports, FPS and Racing games. Now there are a few classics that appeared on the Xbox I must admit I love, Knights of the old republic 1 and 2, Strangers Wrath and Fable, but when these games also came out for the Computer, they kind of loose their dazzle on the Xbox.

I think Xbox and even the Xbox 360 is a lot of hype, people try and make sure you see movie stars buying these systems just to up its cool factor and I the customer feel insulted. I do not need a celeberty to tell me what is cool and hip and what to buy. I go on line, I check the reviews and I see the system specs and I decided from there.

Most of what is Xbox is highly over rated if you ask me.

And some people have said, Shades, you are such a Nintendo Fanboy! Which is partilly true, but not toally. I respect Sony and I Respect Nintendo, and I highly respect Sega, I still got a dreamcast.

The only reason why you see me rant and rave about Nitnendo is the fact that too many people spit on the Nintendo name. And they don't deserve that.

Nitnendo was one of the first game innavorts of our time, they helped us get out of the video game slump in the early 80s and they have been with me from my childhood to my adult hood.

Anyways, right now, the Sony PS3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360, they are both the same to me. They are sitting there, trying to flex their muscels, trying to get my attention. And its not working. Meanwhile theare prices going higher for these systems and games. I've seen Xbox 360 games cost as much as $60.00 now. And while not a dramatic price hike, it is still a price hike that hasn't went up very much at all.

If any of you remeber, some of the Nitnendo games costs more then this. I paid $75.00 for Super Mario 3 when it first came out. So prices have went down with time. Now they are going up again.

Anyways, mean while, Nintendo is thinking outside of the power and outside of the graphics. They are thinking, what can we really do to make gameplay more fun and intresting?
Too many people are under estamting the new Nitnendo and thats what they want people to do. With the competitve prices and the intresting design, they hope not to actully fight Sony and Microsfot, but go hand in hand with them. To sit on the same shelf in your home as your Xbox 360 or PS2.

Instead of developing new hardware to generate more power graphics and systems, Nintendo is trying to generate a more powerful gameplay expierance.

Too many people are like, WTF the new Nintendo controller looks like a DVD remote... Nintendo did that on purpose, its for the older generation. My mom is literlly scared of the new controllers with the 12 button layout, but she still plays Nintendo with me. The new controller design is made to help people reconize and assoite with.

If you tip it on it's side, it looks like an orginal Nintendo controller, which I love the most. the orginal nintendo controller will always be my favorite one.

Too may people also think the split design is the controller, its only an accessorite, the analog stick plugs into the bottom.

But the best, and what I am most excited about is the wireless controller that you actully move to control the game. Thinking of being able to slash monsters instead of pressing a B Button, or tilting the controller to turn the wheel of a car.. it amazes me, and not just for now, for the future.

Nintendo is a true innavator, and I am sure they will be the first company to introduce a unique, intresting and inexpensive virtual reality expierance when it is ready to.

What Nintendo said holds very true to me. There is a point when technology advances itself so far that you need to stop thinking about power and graphics and start worrying about other things.

Games look realistic enough to me already as it is. I don't want to pay for hardware that can generate frames per second I can't even see with my eyes.

CaptFalcon, you speak like too many of the new generation of gamers, the kind that think only one way like hardware or graphics and don't look at all possiblity or angels in competetion.

The fact is, you can't even honestly compair the Nitnendo R to the Sony PS3 or Xbox 360 yet, since the real headware specs have not been fully released yet.

When it finally comes out, it could very well stand its own to the other system hardware wise by itself.

Nintendo was my first gaming console i have an xbox which i play about 4 tiems a month i have a DS which i play all the time i still have my SNES which my mum plays and i do when im not on the DS i had a sony it fell off my bed about half a foot high and it didn't work so i smashed the hell outta it oh what a day that was im waiting for my xbox to break but it just wont go itsn ot like im trowing it around or anything but its had its bashes and clangs with things can't wait to smash it up it ooo yea my opinion on the xbox 360 isn't very good i don't think ill get one and the nintendo revolution im not sure i can get used to that controller its werid

Nah. I reckon all consoles suck, regardless of version or manufacturer.

End of discussion. ;-P

And what makes gameplay better? Hardware! Faster, more efficient hardware is great for gameplay. Graphics are very important. I don't want to try and pick something up in a game because it looks exactly like another thing, and end up getting killed because it was some explosive or someone killed me while I was trying to pick it up. You have to be able to at least tell what you can see on your screen.

The PSX was my favorite and first Sony system. I love all of the RPGs I have played on it. It introduced me into a completely new gaming world. Anyone know why they call is a PSX, anyway?

I've never tried to put Nintendo down; your post sort of sounded like I did. Nintendo is a great company, but they have their flaws just like any company does. The N64 does still remain my favorite system. And Conkers Bad Fur Day is an excellent game. The remake for the Xbox ruined the multiplayer though. I hate that.
In response to CaptFalcon33035
I'm not going to say Microsoft/Sony sucks, but to me on a scale of 1-10, Nintendo is a 10 and Xbox and Playstation are like negative 100,000,000. I hate how they up their prices just to make a quick buck and all they care about is sports, killing zombies and racing games. Nintendo has always tried to cater to everyones needs, not just the adults. I have lived through 13 years of nothing but playing crappy games on Xbox and Playstation, and amazing games on Nintendo. Can you really compare Nintendogs with GTA? NO!!!!! And Graphics arn't importants at all!! I would rather play an 8-bit Kirby game then a 128-bit crappy game where you go around shooting random citizens. Nintendo has always been my favorite game company because of the QUALITY of the games, not the graphics or just because some celeberty plays it.

Their prices are cheaper than what the console actually cost to make so they are losing money but it wouldn't matter to them when they have billions of dollars its the same with sony, nintendo is actually making profits which i think is great after Gamecube didn't really hit off

Yeah but thats the thing, Nintendo dosen't have to have the most popular with just one thing to beat the pants off of the other 2 in sales.

With the GBA and NGC sales combined in the last years they still out did the other 2.

With the DS its like a 3rd pillar, when one falls, they still got 2 more to lean on.
