Now we all know Haku from Naruto has alot of controversy about wether it's a female of male. I personally think Haku is a female, because when Naruto first met Haku. She was wearing this band around her neck that only japanese women wear. Another to support my answer is that Zabuza could have easily say Haku's a boy so that he wouldn't feel ashamed. Plus everytime I see Haku in the anime she has cleavage (boobs). "Oh, and I'm a Boy!" -Haku (Scene when he meets Naruto in the forst) - Naruto Manga & Show (US & JP) So yep, no controversy. He IS a guy, said and done. |

She's actually female -- she says she's a guy so Naruto won't go easy on her, read further into the Manga, you'll see it.

Bah, whatever..ALSO I CAN'T BELIEVE HAKU DIED LAST NIGHT ON NARUTO.. They always have to kill the coolest characters and leave the crappy ones!!!! You're watching it on American TV? Tututut, should've downloaded the Japanese ones... |
Haku is a guy, which is blatantly apparent after Haku tells Naruto that he is a guy.
The fact that Haku dressed the way he did was probably because Haku was a traditional Japanese person. Keep in mind that, back in the day, the common clothing in Japan was the kimono. Guys dressed quite feminine(have you seen Sai from Hikaru no Go?), which is really quite different than what the American audience would expect. But heck, even Europeans(and early Americans) used to dress in a very feminine way. I assume that early Mexicans and Canadians and such dressed the same as the Europeans, considering they were just colonies of European countries. =P Hiead |

I read up to volume 20 so far, and All sources conform that he is a Guy, in the English dub they where going to make him a girl, but decided to keep to the roots. sources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haku_%28Naruto%29 http://www.absoluteanime.com/naruto/haku.htm#gender |

The manga overrules the anime. Yes I agree, the manag usually has the author's ture intent for the series, while often times, the anime gets cut and mangled up, even in japaense tv on occassion. I got the entire uncut, import set of Naurto on DVD, and I still havent watched it, maybe I should, and see if they make any more mention of this later on? Nadrew, in what part of the manga did they mention what you said? Can you give me an idea so I can just chceck it out, instead of actully having to watch the entire series? (I am still not done with Dragonball XP ) |

You're watching the manga while you read it, sort of.

Er, yeah I did. I read the manga(I've read all of the manga up to date, only watched some of the anime). I don't recall any instance of Haku being a female, but since I still have the entire manga on my PC, would you mind pointing me to the chapter where they pointed this out?
